WSHE

That would have been a nicer name.
Agreed. Why does it have to be gendered??

Their playlist looks surprisingly diverse, which is refreshing. Sounds like Pop2K from Sirius, with less hip hop and more 90s AC.

The station historically played an everything but the kitchen sink format. So I guess it's still on brand?

Men arent interested in this format they presume? EDIT: Looking at that playlist...does seem very...x chromosome.

They seem to be playing in the same sandbox as 104.3 to an extent. The market certainly seems to prefer WBMX.

Spinning hip-hop party classics on a station with AC roots and cheesy branding might not be a good match.

They've been doing a similar format for a couple years now. They simply added more into the mix and adjusted the branding from "She 100.3" to "The New 100.3" They tend to play weird remakes of certain songs, which makes no sense.

It's not a bad idea, stations around the country have been going with a similar format, it just needs to be branded and marketed better.

There's nothing wrong with playing songs people in their 30s and 40s grew up with. How they do it makes a difference though.

It really just flanks for WTMX and clears Brooke & Jeffrey (Which is their nationally syndicated morning show, mostly on CHR) This is all the frequency ever really did since the 90s. Their AC attempt really was the best, but it would always be adjusted. It did manage to force WLIT to go from a card reading, jock just saying what they just played and reading weather station to a complete revamp with jingles and imaging. The WNND jingle package was used on AC stations across the country.

I think its to target that specific demographic though, which Im outside of.

35-44 seems to be their core. Anybody in that age range was a teenager or in their 20s within those two decades. They play some 2010s as well. The younger end of that demo would have been in their 20s in that time period.

Am I the only person who thinks 100.3 sounds quite a bit like the former (and short lived) i101 WIQI from a playlist vantage point?

i101 didn't exclusively play old music for most of its existence, but like 100.3, as I recall, the station seemed to favor Rhythmic party hits for its library titles.

i101 went with Rhythmic party hits toward the end. Jim Richards was initially running it, then a guy who specialized in Dance (Forgot his name) volunteered to program it for the last couple months.

Not necessarily. The big AOR station in Miami starting back in the 70's, 80's and into the 90's was WSHE... "She's Only Rock and Roll" and it targeted men.

There is even a tribute site... 103 SHE FLORIDA RADIO – SHE INTERNET RADIO
The company that bought WSRF 1580 and WSRF-FM was owned by Van Patrick and Gene Milner. They put Milner's wife, Jackie Milner, in charge on the FM, and changed the call letters to WSHE. Jackie Milner passed away quite recently. Her children and grandchildren bought 99.9 in Kankakee and made it WBUS The Bus. The Milners sold 99.9 and the COL was changed to Park Forest to be considered a Cook County station. They still own a group of stations based in Bourbonnais, IL.
