WCKG 1530 AM

Last week, I passed the area where WCKG had its towers and all are gone. For a while, they had one tower standing but now that one is down and the grounds are totally cleared. looks Like the tollways has cleared the area.

They lost their tower site, to the Tollway expansion. They are looking for another place to relocate the towers. Evidently it isn't easy to find land.

A lot of stations are getting STAs with creative antennas, long wires, slant wires, short paperclip antennas on top of buildings, etc.

If they can get 250 watts nondirectional licensed with a short antenna like they had, they can survive as a licensed station. and feed the translator. There have to be quite a few short towers for other services nearby, that could be modified. Slightly further North and West would help with WCKY interference and Critical Hours.

I have a feeling that we will see another extension of the STA when this one expires.... it seems to be the trend these days....kick the can down the road, cut your losses

Supposedly WCKG 1530 has a translator on 102.3. Is the translator still broadcasting, even if it doesn't have an AM station to translate? And is it still Fox Sports Radio?

Both are on the air. Not sure exactly what format they have since it changes every so often. But they both have other towers, AM is on an STA
