KTWV playing rap now

Not to mention that it might only get one spin during an entire week. Not regular rotation.

I could hear the clean version of Ride Wit Me on soft AC. Not unlike See You Again with Charlie Puth.
“Over And Over Again” is another one that springs to mind for Soft AC.

I was looking at their mediabase recently played and The Wave is now playing Nelly ft City Spud “Ride With Me and “Dilemma” (which crossed over to Urban AC in 2002.
Not surprising, considering they've played B.O.B.'s "Nothing on You" and Beyonce's "Crazy In Love".

As for The Wave, I wish Detroit had a station like it, but with a Latinx population a fraction the size of L.A.'s it'd never happen.
Out of curiosity, who did you learn to say "Latinx" instead of the more traditional terms from?

My family has frequently asked how the term started to attain usage, and all believe (sarcasm intended) it comes from white blue-eyed New Englanders.

Okay, David, this may be a leap of faith, but I'm going out on a limb and guessing CCBinMI is In Michigan. (And his/her initials are CCB.) Corrections welcome.

David from what I seen and heard most Hispanics detest the usage of Latinx. They don't like it. I have never heard it used.
As a Hispanic person myself I’m one of those people. I never asked for a new term to be made just to feel included as we already have many labels thrown at us and I think many of us feel the same. Also the word Latino/Latina just comes from the way the Spanish language and other Romance languages are structured and less to do with what a person wants to call themselves. Sorry if it’s a bit off topic.

As for a station like KTVW playing rap now if it works it works. Rap is a very diverse genre much like rock you have the hardcore stuff and then you’ve got the softer stuff that crosses with some R&B here and there. Most 90’s-00’s rap sampled 70s-80s R&B anyway.

Like a certain Football team, WE (those of a certain ideology) will tell YOU what you are offended by, what you should think, who you should hate, how you should raise your children, and who you will be voting for.

New England is filled with these types, just drive on the roads there and witness the li.ness, just take out a life insurance policy for your family first as elitism operating motor vehicles is more deadly than the drunks behind the wheel, nothing more dangerous than that moral impairment.

You got to love it, less than 7% Hispanic and yet they will look a Dominican American dead in the eye and say that they know your culture better than you do.
They can be hard to understand verbally, as with Phil in Jersey, they mumble thanks to their Goldman Sachs 'hobby'. Lol 🤣

As you say in the continuation of the post, "they" know what is best for you and they "know" all the subtleties of your culture and background.

"They" come in all flavors. My most interesting experience was at a grocery store where an associate and I were picking up some snacks to have on hand later after we wrapped up a research project and would be tabulating and writing our summary for the local station management.

We were speaking Spanish as we waited in line to check out, as the discussion was about one of our station's programming. A lady behind us made one of those "ah-hum..." noises and we looked towards her; "if you two don't learn Spanish, you will never get anywhere in this country! I hope you can even understand me!"

She was talking to two people who, together, neared a 7-figure income. I replied, "we owe our jobs, our careers and out success to our ability to speak multiple languages. How many do you speak". She huffed with a growling noise and turned away. We had threatened her reality and and self-constructed idea of society.

KTWV caters to a different audience than they did in the 90s. KTWV's target age is around 40. Today's 40 year old was born in 1982/1983. They were teenagers in the 90s, and entered adulthood in the 2000s. They grew up on hip hop, and it doesn't turn them off the same way it did earlier generations. Also, LA has a low black population, and high latino population so the music they play has to appeal to the demographics in the market.

That's an understatement. In my view the station did an incredible job if reinventing itself without destroying its heritage. I can think of no other "smooth jazz" station that was able to do this as successfully. It's been interesting to watch Audacy try to do this type of format in other markets, such as Atlanta, without this kind of success.

The current version of the format started under CBS Radio. Audacy has just been able to maintain it. KTWV reminds me of how KBLX in San Francisco used to be back in the day.

Yup, we distinctly remember a situation that is out of the ordinary compared to those that are the daily norm.
Same as my experiences of decency in New York which would be any regular Tuesday in Utah for example.

I believe that this country could be saved if only those from the middle and south could spend a week driving around and engaging in indirect interactions with those of the Northeast.
Maybe then they could rightfully appreciate their daily experiences of morality and decency and thus realize how delicate maintaining them truly is.
Every other issue is irrelevant in comparison.
Ignorance from limited experience is easily corrected, where as true hatred to the level of we must punish our enemies like a certain fellOw and those who worship him like a god is the damaged soul beyond repair.

As for KTWV, they seem to be targeting the same audience that they always have. They just have rightfully adjusted to stay focused upon serving them.
WLTW targets a 42 year old female. If they didn't change them they would be catering to 72yo women.

@TheBigA I agree with your statement. I never thought I would be saying this but The Wave is killing it.
