Public Square to the theater district. Or, in "old speak" from Halle's to Higbee's.
That sounds like the kind of "traffic report" that would air at that time of night.
"We are the only station with 24/7 traffic coverage - Holly Copter during the day, and Stella Stiletto at night".
They don't need to have someone sitting there overnight on Sunday, but there should be someone at least until midnight. If a malfunction occurs at 2:00 am, it's probably not a big deal. But it is at 10:00 pm which is when the Bill Cunningham show starts.

Such a shame what this once great station has become. A mere shadow of its' former self. Weekends are a wasteland. Gilly must be spinning in his grave. The rare times I tune in anymore, I hear canned IHeart content, or endless reruns of Bloomdaddy, or as I call him Gloomdaddy. They're really trying hard to promote that guy, as if anyone cares. Sad.

What you're mainly talking about is AM radio. And you're talking about time periods (weekends and nights) when there is no advertiser demand. If the advertising situation gets any worse, the stations will just shut down. The audience for these AM stations started going away over 40 years ago. They've managed to hang on because of conservative talk fans. But even they are starting to disappear. I'm reading that some heritage AM stations are on the block in NYC. If that's true, the end of AM is near.
FYI Todd doesn't work in Cleveland. He works at another iHeart station. It appears that Cunningham was indeed off that night. (read post #56) It's possible Premiere had a rerun in his place, perhaps coming from a different location. WTAM didn't know about the change, and went to whatever backup system they have.

Not really.. automation gaffes are easy to make/have happen and its not always the station staffs fault
Cunningham was off on his regular WLW show the next day (he seems to have Johnny Carson's vacation schedule) which would make it likely that he was off for his national show as well, but Premiere is going to have something to fill with.
WTAM long ago gave up the ghost on weekends...this is nothing new.
WTAM has Greg Brinda (who is the very definition of a lifer), and Rob Rozycki (whose day job is as producer/sidekick for Jimmy Malone) doing local shows (GB Sat/Sun, RR Sat evenings).
Dennis Manoloff - who by trade the weeknight evening guy, but often gets bumped by Cavs/Guards games - does a Sunday evening show.
Other than that, lots of syndicated stuff (like iHeart stalwarts Gary Sullivan with his DIY show, Bill Cunningham, and even Fox Sports Radio in simulcast with 1350 The Gambler)) as well as a ton of paid stuff

Considering how long he's been at WLW, I'm sure he has a lot of vacation time built up. I think Ken Broo and Dan Carroll split the sub duties locally this week.
And then there's the possibility of Willie retiring this summer. He put that scenario out there last year.

I wonder if WTAM takes the weekend show directly from WLW rather than Premiere. Since WLW was running the Super Bowl, that threw a wrench in the works. All it takes is one deviation to throw off the whole system.
