Application to move WAMI-AM Opp to Jacksons' Gap

This was approved today., 7/7. Details below:

I'm guessing this latest game of "musical chairs" of WAMI-AM moving to Jackson's Gap is now dead in the water, given the accompanying FM translator move to Tuskegee was dismissed?

All I can say, for now, is this: The move for WAMI AM, to Jackson's Gap is indeed happening. The FM relay itself is, for the moment, dead in the water.

P.S. For the time being, WAMI AM will have to return to the air from Opp.

That's good to hear. It'll be interesting to see what they do with it once it moves. And now that I know it's not Reynolds, I actually expect it to happen, ha ha. The site placement is great, it manages to reach a new COL and Montgomery pretty well.

No questioning of integrity is implied or inferred from this comment.

But are you qualified to say all that, @tomservo ? :) lol

Holiday inn Express....🤣🤣🤣

Excuse me @passtheword. What I said to you is the Gospel truth, taken from the mouth of Mr. Chris Johnson, the owner of said AM station. He's the one that filed for the station to move and will be the one to return it to the air in Opp for the time being. The man told me himself, that if he doesn't return it to the air, he risks losing the license. For you to come on here and stir up a stink against this radio professional, is uncalled for. The man has been in the game since the age of 14 years and still enjoys working in it. What he does with the station, in the future, is between me, him and God for now. Not going to share what those plans are. Promised him that I would keep it to myself and I intend to honor that promise.

P.S. In closing sir, every radio station he works with or owns, he does a great job at keeping them up. Not once have I ever heard of him letting one of his clients or station facilities go to waste.

If there are no plans to implement an FM translator for WAMI, I really can't see why anyone would want to move a standalone AM, a daytime-only one at that, hundreds of miles away to serve some rural area such as Jackson's Gap (I'm aware how small that community is, as I have family who lives there).Without an FM presence to complement the WAMI signal, no one hardly in that area is going to be willing to an AM station. AM/FM radio owners and radio nerds might view AM as a sustainable broadcasting media, but the truth is the average radio listener does not want to listen to AM radio and hasn't in many decades. So i'm just trying to figure in my head why anyone would want to invest that kind of $ to move a signal that the vast majority of the public does not want. As far as "Mr. Chris" he can do what he wants. It's his $ after all...

LEAVE THE MAN ALONE SIR. IT'S HIS BROADCAST, MONEY AND BUSINESS. LET HIM DO WHATEVER HE WANTS WITH IT.

btw, as far as any stink...I am not the one who came on here a while back making incendiary comments about board members discussing FCC info that is publicly made available. No one has been insulting anyone on here, as again only what was publicly available was addressed. I don't recall him being on this board previously up until a year ago, so I am curious as to how he found his way here. I have my ideas, however...

So board members are not allowed to discuss FCC publicly available info or give our opinions (and that is what they are, of course)?

It was me that invited him. He wanted to discuss radio broadcasting, with the pros but decided to leave, after all the lies and gossip he had to endure. I love the man very much and glad to still call him my friend and engineer. If you knew what the man was trying to do with WAMI AM sir, you would understand but you'll never get it. Mr. Chris and I talk very often about the business and I'm still learning so much from this well respected and highly decorated broadcaster. Much of what we say, I tend to keep to myself anyway, since I promised him not to reveal it unless I'm allowed to. For someone, like you, to come here and talk smack against this fine man sir is a disgrace indeed.

P.S. Let the man do what he wants with WAMI AM. It's his property and he doesn't have to answer to anyone in this chat room period.

No, he doesnt have to answer to any of us, @R.D.P. but we have a right to discuss legitimate station news, happenings and movements.... but he was on here awhile ago, throwing a bunch of insults and calling others some names....... thats hardly professional.

RDP, I am not going to continue this debate with you. As I stated previously, board members have every right to discuss radio news, especially that which is made public, regardless of your relationship with Mr. Johnson.

I know about the public record thing. I already knew that the translator move was denied. However, he still has plans of moving WAMI AM to Jackson's Gap Alabama. That's from some recent talks we had about it and checking out the public records for myself. What happens after that, is between him, me and God. I know for a fact he's bringing it back to Opp for a spell, because he risks losing the license, if he doesn't. To suggest the man doesn't know how to run a radio station or help his clients run one right, is absurd indeed. The man is a very busy person and really doesn't have time to respond to all this talk about him.
