They preempted that for this?

Wheel and/or Jeopardy goes to a subchannel whenever it is pre-empted, whether for a local special, Olympics or whatever
I saw no announcement so I don't know if that happens here. Doesn't do me any good since I'm too far away to pick up their channel with an antenna (at least the one I have now), so a subchannel is out of the question. Even with a regular cable package they might not have that, but mine has only the main channels.

That was a pretty huge story down this way, so that's not surprising. But they could easily have shown it on one of the subchannels, and perhaps run a crawler at the bottom of the CBS feed, directing viewers to tune there if they wanted to watch it instead. (But then you have a problem with cable and dish providers who don't carry all of the subchannels. Quest is the only WLTX subchannel that comes to mind that is carried on local Spectrum.)
I remember in Lafayette during the O.J. Simpson trial CBS would sometimes break in several times for updates, some of which weren't that important, so because of tape delay (Indiana was not observing Daylight Time at that time so we were delaying all network programming), and the pain it was to sync everything back up, we ended up running some of those an hour later. Really important stuff we broke in for, of course.

As with last year, Tues March 7 and Wed March 8 will have European soccer coverage on CBS. It *might* impact B&B and Y&R on CBS in western timezones. If you normally watch or record from TV, check your local listings, your might need to watch on another channel or at an odd time instead. Or watch online.
But it's not a preemption because it doesn't impact the east coast, so if you miss it, catch up online.

Y&R and B&B: Feb. & March 2023 soccer preemptions- western US

In contrast, Thurs March 16 and Friday March 17 are full preemptions for March Madness basketball on CBS. No episodes at all, not even online.
B&B preempted March 16&17 in Canada.
Y&R preempted March 15&16 on Global-Canada.

WCCB is delaying CW primetime tonight to air the Myers Park-Richmond Senior 4A boys state championship basketball game tonight at 7:30pm. First time in a while that any network affiliate in Charlotte (other than MyNet) has delayed network programming. World’s Funniest Animals will air tonight at 11 and 11:30pm and Masters of Illusion will air tomorrow at 7 and 7:30pm. They haven’t preempted CW programming for a football championship game. Also a Neighborhood rerun got moved to 11:30am. Doesn’t look like the other weekend run is airing.

It’s weird to me that LMAD is not preempted nationwide for soccer like it is for the first two rounds of March Madness. The reason is some stations still air it in the afternoon. (3pm/2pm). But yet the stations that air it in the morning still air it at 10am/9am when there’s soccer on in the afternoons

But are they new episodes or just reruns?

I noticed "World's Funniest Animals" recorded late.

I was relieved to discover The ACC Tournament is no longer on the CBS affiliates.

Some pre-emptions due to high school sports this past few days

North Dakota had the Girls and Boys Championships Saturday night on Forums ABC affiliates (WDAY/WDAZ/KBMY/KMCY). NBA was moved to the -3 Xtra (which is in HD).

Nebraska PBS had Boys and Girls basketball most of the day Saturday on their -1 (hey its better than pledge programming) ;)

South Dakota PBS had the Girls basketball playoffs this past Thursday-Saturday on 3 of their 4 stations
This Thursday-Saturday is the Boys tournament on the same stations. One class on the main station, another on the -2 World and the last on -3 Create

Duluth, MN ABC WDIO had the MN Boys Hockey Tournament Wednesday-Saturday. The ABC programming was moved to late night. Saturday's NHL and NBA games were moved to the -2 MeTv (which is carried in HD)

KDSM 17 (Fox) had Boys High School Basketball from 1pm to 9pm on Friday March 10.

WANE TV Fort Wayne, IN for the first round of March madness. Will air Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy at 10 and 10:30 AM before the Price Is Right. Normally that spot goes to Rachael Ray. But she’s being bumped to 2:37 A.M

so the folks who have LMAD in the morning get a rerun. At least it isn't a new episode so the markets that show it in the afternoon don't get jipped
So then there’s no reason why they shouldn’t do this for March Madness but I guess CBS wants to throw the local stations a bone since they get less time for basketball.

According to the LMAD site this Thursday and Friday is pre-empted
Oh and last weeks were reruns (as I assumed) for the days where soccer was on in the afternoon

Yes they have preempted LMAD for years during March Madness.

I just thought they would be consistent.
Soccer is on at noon Mountain time
The NCAA starts at 10am Mountain time
A fair amount of CBS stations in the mountain time zone show TPIR at 9 and LMAD at 10 so why bother show LMAD for a couple affiliates who show it at 9 Mountain? Even TPIR are in reruns on Thursday and Friday

Addition to my above post
I don’t know how many central time zone CBS stations carry LMAD at 9am. I know KIMT Mason City, IA does and looks like they are going to show Wheel and Jeopardy during that time slot Thursday and Friday
