WVUE Fox 8 New Orleans

When I see the logo for this station, I notice a symbol that is on the O for the FOX logo. What is that symbol and I think it is associated with New Orleans. Anyone have any information?

WDSU's Me-TV New Orleans, WNOL, and WLAE also use a fleur-de-lis in their logos. Its a New Orleans thing but you think about that city when you see that symbol.

Yes it's a Louisiana Specific symbol in this case it's been associated with New Orleans. Also WGNO-TV used it at one point in it's history.

Here's WDSU's Me-TV one too.

The fleur-de-lis is associated in particular with France and anything French. That's why it shows up often in relation to New Orleans and Louisiana (and also Quebec).

It's basically the same logo as the New Orleans Saints & the Boy Scouts

WVUE added the fleur-de-lis after then-Saints owner Tom Benson bought the station. It’s a local emblem like the Chicago flag or the Texas flag (in DFW especially).
