Angels announcers to call road games remotely

Just disappointing, especially since the team actually owns the station outright.

I didn't watch or listen to much baseball during Covid, but once the NBA started playing games "on the road" again in I believe 2021, our NBA team's TV and radio announcers sat in our home arena during away games and announced them remotely. While I'm sure it felt a bit odd to them and there are certain things that happened in the arena that they couldn't see and experience from their vantage point from 1/2 a continent away, when watching those games on TV and listening to the announcing, for the most part nothing was lacking and it sounded as if they were in the arena where the game was being played.

That said if the Angels are doing it this season merely as a cost saving measure, I don't see how it saves them much $$ in the grand scheme. Most broadcasters travel with the team on their charter flights so I'd think all it costs them for the broadcasters to travel is a few extra hotel rooms for them, meals, per-diem and the like.

I was listening to the broadcast of Sunday night's (3/26) Angels-Dodgers exhibition. Mark Langston was in the KLAA studios, though it sounded as Terry Smith was at Dodger Stadium...or perhaps he was in Anaheim also.

But come on now, this is ridiculous. The Angels go to San Diego and to Chavez Ravine (again) in July. Short road trips. Are those games going to be done remotely also?

It's tough to take the Angels seriously sometimes.

If you have so little regard for the product you are selling, how is your intended customer supposed to react?
Management doesn’t even take the team seriously. They’ve had Albert Pujols (latter half of his prime), Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout. Only one playoff appearance in a decade. It’s clear Arte didn’t get the price he wanted for the Angels and/or KLAA. So he just continues to incompetently own the team

Arte went for the sympathy card when explaining why he decided to keep the team. And BTW, he says he was offered more than what Steve Cohen paid for the Mets (roughly $2.5B +), so he probably got more than he expected.

But emotions won't help the Angels win a playoff spot or keep Ohtani. The pressure is clearly on Arte to resign him and make good on his promise to build a winning team...and though this decision is insignificant as to how the club will perform this season, it isn't a good sign nevertheless.

Dumbest idea I’ve ever heard of

Audacy 🤝 Los Angeles Angels
I've been thinking about forcing Audacy to buy Uforia Audio Network Radio Station KLVE 107.5 FM flipping to English language Sports Talk Radio Station as The Bet LA and affiliated with CBS Sports Radio it will mark the debut of Los Angeles Sports Talk on FM dial to air Los Angeles Angels MLB Baseball, Las Vegas Raiders NFL Football, UC Irvine Anteaters Men's College Basketball, Westwood One Sports and move the Spanish-language Contemporary Music to KRCD 103.9 FM and KRCV 98.3 FM branding as "Amor 103.9 FM y 98.3 FM" that's my suggestions

107.5 is one of LA’s top rated radio stations. Sports on AM has never done well in the market, and there’s no guarantee it would do well on FM. It’s too huge of a risk to do it at this point

I think Audacy is at its ownership limit in LA. They have 5 FMs:

In a radio market with 45 or more stations, an entity may own up to eight radio stations, no more than five of which may be in the same service (AM or FM).

Audacy would be an option to start buying ABC Radio KRDC 1110 AM to become as The Bet LA a Sports Talk Radio Station with an affiliation of CBS Sports Radio to become the home of these sporting events:

Los Angeles Angels MLB Baseball
Las Vegas Raiders NFL Football
UC Irvine Anteater Men's College Basketball
San Diego Aztecs Men's College Football and College Basketball
Los Angeles Galaxy MLS Soccer
Anaheim Ducks NHL Hockey
Westwood One

KRDC 1110 AM shouldn't simulcast KSPN 710 AM anymore it should bought by Audacy to become as The Bet LA 1110 AM with an affiliation of CBS Sports Radio that's my other suggestion

They really don't have any money right now, and they have nothing to trade to Disney. They need to build up $650 million to meet a debt obligation next year. So they're in sell-mode now.

Disney seems to be willing to let Good Karma use 1110 when they need it.
