I heard a rumor from my friend something is going to be happening at Energy 103.1. Format change I'm guessing but keep in mind we're getting near April 1.
I myself never enjoyed Energy 103 or even other formats. In the early 70s WALL and WSPK were the stations for me. In. can't remember what WTBQ sounded like at that time but like "your beautiful Island" I didn't listen to them. If WJGK does flip I hope its an exciting Top 40 with today's music to go against WSPK & Kiss fm in Poughkeepsie. If not would like to see a simulcast of WGNY with live local DJ's.In the 1980s the owner of 103.1, WGNY FM at that time, started using the Energy 103 logo for a time. We used to call it "lack of energy 103" because it wasn't very exciting. I think today it is less so, not that anything on radio has much energy. I was surprised to hear them bring back that branding, but not surprised to hear the same low energy approach. I'll be very interested if anything happens there that would generate some excitement. The station has pretty much been at the same energy and excitement level since it switched from beautiful music as WFMN, your beautiful island back on the 80s.
Recently changed to xmradiopro but want to change to different name but forgot how.XMradiopro? I like that name. XMradio is the only music station I ever listen to. Live local DJs are expensive so I don't see that happening fulltime on WJGK. I wonder how 103.1 would work with a CHR sound. It may not compete well with WSPK because 104.7 probably has the best signal in New York State. If they tried to super serve the local area with a hotter format, perhaps they'd make a few bucks. They would need a prescription to energize the morning show though. I don't see them making the investment in personalities to make it exciting. Good sounding jocks cost money. (and that's why local radio sounds as it does)
