FM Transmitter

I got one for around the house, But my question

I'm getting a Audio Hum, it's rated as 12V 500mA

But the PSU they gave me is 12V 1A,

Kinda odd they gave me a PSU with a higher mA rating then it requiered

Will a 12V 500mA elimimate the audio hum?

There could be several reasons for the hum - from the input source you're using, to the connection jacks and cabling, to a grounding issue, to the power source, to interference from something else nearby, or the fact that it's just cheaply made with low-quality components. That could be especially true if you bought an inexpensive, off-brand unit from an Asian supplier from Amazon or eBay, for instance.
 
I encountered the same issue. Purchased a new power supply from Amazon (i went with 12v @ 8 AMPS) - Got rid of the hum and since I'm drawing so much less than the PS capacity, it runs without too much heat. Also, I purchased a ground loop noise isolator that fits between the audio source and transmitter input. That helped clean up noise as well.

There is a lot of cheap nasty SMPS out there with terrible filtering. Mainly because they are built as cheap as possible and they don't want to spend extra dollar or two to at least add a filter cap and some inductors.

If I was to use one of these I'd probably get a linear regulated supply. Of course not as efficient but the trade off is very low noise.
