The RadioInsight Los Angeles ratings are stuck on February.

I'm surprised KFROG is on top but I suppose alot of Hispanics like country music that's the
Only takeaway I could see.

KHTI is a joke 0.4 they're barely registered time to blow up the station. Classic hits should be the next format 80's and 90's just my opinion

The problem is that this is a limited signal that only covers about 40% of the market with a 60 dbu signal, and it wastes a big piece of its coverage over the NW corner of San Bernardino County (Pomona to near the city of San Bernardino along the 210 freeway) and can't really compete with other stations.

46% of the market is not Hispanic, and as more signals are broadcasting in Spanish, the remaining English language ones will benefit.

Not arguing with you David but don't you think a classic hits direction would help their billing. I'm sure there are advertisers that want to bill on kola but kola a lot of times has to say no due to the fact they have limited hours.

I mean to say kola does not have a lot of open slots for advertisers as it's very popular. Khti could grab the advertisers that don't do ads on kola. Just sayin

KOLA has a reasonable rate for the size of its audience and the market it is in. The real issue is that the whole market just does not get bought in proportion to its size. It's 26th in population, but 45th in rank based on total radio revenue.

The issue with KHTI is if if goes classic hits, it can't compete with KOLA and only covers an area for local sales where KRTH is very dominant. And the area has very little local business... it's either chain stores or services and they will buy the big signal.

The only format hole is classic rock 70's and 80's that's the only format I know of in the IE that's not playing.

Beyond all that----KRTH #1 and a really nice bounce back for KIIS. What the hell happened at KOST?

That KOST drop looks fluky, although I’m guessing some share went to KRTH. They tend to switch off at the top. I’m partial to the latter station, but both sound great and are worthy competitors for one another.

The KIIS surge is also a bit abrupt, yet somehow feels more accurate than their recent rankings. Their product is on point.

Do we have any idea whether KROQ is making any progress in the key demos?

25-54 from Jan to Mar, 2.4, 2.3, 2.0. 18-49 2.6. 2.4, 2.1 Not looking good. KYSR also off in about the same proportions. Not a good three months for alternative rock.

Hard to get anything going when the current product is as bad as it is (I say that as a longtime fan of the format). KYSR is fortunate to have such a strong and established morning show, otherwise I’m sure they wouldn’t look much better.

I don’t think kroq will ever return to the numbers they had in the 2000s. But, I also don’t see a point to make changes to the station. Theres just nothing else worth doing in Los Angeles. With their already lean staff, they don’t have to bill a lot to keep their head above water
