Lineup change at WSB

TL; DR: Chandler to replace Slade, Arum and von Haessler swapping slots effective May 1.

I think the Von Haessler/Arum swap is a good move. The late morning slot probably makes the most sense for the lighter, non-political nature of Mark's show (although that slot once housed Neal Boortz). And political talk seems befitting in afternoon drive. I must say, however, that it seems whenever I tune to Eric Von Haessler, I hear comedy and not a lot of politics.

The overall sentiment I get on social media is most people aren’t happy with this move. Why did WSB swap their time slots? I’m indifferent about the move. As long as both of them are still on the air, I’m good.

Where else are they discussing this on social media? I thought we were the only radio nerds. :)

Oh, and does anybody know who is going to take over the afternoon news desk?

I have always believed that WSB would benefit from something local and familiar in the afternoons, and something lighter than Chin Dimple and Panicking Sean. Something like what Gary McKee had from 4-7pm in the 1990s, that gets people through the afternoon traffic with a laugh most days, or a serious discussion on a news event when warranted.

I think it's good. As for Von Haessler, it isn't "politics" per se, but it it the basis for Hannity. Humor based on get off my lawn/love it or leave it/everybody does it so Trump can too philosophy.

On Arum this AM 9 to 930: discussion of the correct pronunciation of "McDonough",

And Van Hessler regularly asks his producer for a news headline and then interrupts him for 20 minutes, going off on side tangents. It's really hard to listen to. The guy literally tries to get it out 5, 6, 7 times. Painful.

Many of the right wingers I know (Trump fanatics) hate WSB because of Erickson….
I like Erickson because he's an independent thinker, unlike some other radio personalities.

In the annual report that came out last week, WSB was the #10 station in billings in the U.S. for 2022 at $31.5 million.

Raphael and Herschel might have had something to do with that.

Back in the day, Boortz was an independent thinker. As his program got more popular he moved away from his libertarianism to spouting the Rush party line. Eric seems to be sliding on that same path. When Eric was only on WSB he was more to the middle, but as he has added stations he has moved more right. I know that move is ratings based, but it is sad to see someone as intelligent as Eric playing for ratings.

I don't think Erick is there yet fortunately. Agree with you on Boortz and even the Kimmer.
