Tucker Carlson and Fox News part ways

Its all about the Fox News Lawsuits that got Carlson removed. Its not just that Fox News pushed the 2020 Election Conspiracy theories. Its also that Tucker Carlson got hit with allegations that he whitewashed January 6th and it lead to outrage there too.
This is all crazy stuff affecting everywhere at Fox News.

The Stuff that Tucker Carlson did on his own show lead to Lachlan Murdoch facing a lawsuit in Australia where he accuses a media outlet called Crickey for writing an op-ed about Fox News role on January 6th as defamation. That Crickey Op-Ed is spot on though given how domestic US media have said similar things. Now ABC News Australia releases a movie on Fox News legal issues surrounding January 6th and the 2020 election lawsuits are out.

My take on it is somewhat different, from having worked in large corporations for 30 years. Large-company executives don't like it when individual contributors start behaving as if they're bigger than the company they work for. They also don't like disparaging remarks that become public. Beyond that, if a company is willing to pay a high enough price, silence can always be bought. Combine all those factors, and it was just a matter of time before Tucker was shown the door.

Update theres questionable info out there saying Tucker Carlson is going to have a show in Russia. Umm if this is the case he is violating US Sanctions though.

Also OAN Network is rumored to get Tucker Carlson. Yes this is all hype though until proven otherwise.

OAN, RSBN or Newsmax wouldn't be able to afford what Tucker would want, not sure about RT. Tucker might go into politics, US or internationally (not neccesarily running for elective office).

I thought One America News (OAN) was in deep financial trouble and that it's future was uncertain at best.

Certainly, if they can somehow get Tucker Carlson, it might attract viewers and sponsors.

But I thought OAN wasn't on that many cable and satellite systems, and I also thought that a number of cable and satellite operators had dumped OAN in the past year or so.

Thus, signing Tucker Carlson might not convince enough cable and satellite operators (including those that had previously dropped the network) to start carrying or resume carrying OAN.

Newsmax may be the most likely destination for any future Carlson television program, as I thought they might be in the best financial shape of the smaller conservative-leaning networks as regards being able to afford him.

A wild card: Could I-Heart owned Premiere Networks offer him a deal for a national morning drive radio talk show that I-Heart could muscle on nearly all of it's all-talk stations (eliminating dozens of local morning shows on I-Heart-owned talk radio stations in the process)?

At present, morning drive is the only daypart where most I-Heart-owned talk stations have any local programming. Yes, a national Tucker Carlson show in morning drive would mean that most I-Heart talk stations would be 24 hours-a-day syndicated fare, but the huge salary that I-Heart's Premiere Networks division would have to pay Carlson could be offset by the money the company would save by replacing dozens of local morning with a syndicated program.

The obvious landing spot for Tucker would be NewsNation. They have the money, and they have brough on a bunch of previously fired cable hosts, including at least one who was fired for a clear ethical violation (Chris Cuomo).

With the backing of Nexstar, they definitely have the cash.

Fox News Tonight has replaced his show. Some big shoes to fill at 8 ET/5 PT. Could Steve Hilton (Next Revolution) or Lawrence Jones (Cross Country) move to Tucker's old timeslot? Given that Tucker's show was #1 on cable news last I checked, it probably gives Hannity or even Gutfeld a chance to move into that top spot.

This opens up opportunities to move him to Newsmax...or even conservative talk radio. Putting him on NewsNation isn't profitable, as even the centrist hosts (Dan Abrams, etc.) can't get 100,000 total viewers on a good night. There's probably more WGN viewers in the *Chicago market* than total NewsNation viewers at times.

What about BlazeTV, Glenn Beck's streaming service? Tucker wouldn't have to answer to any corporate bigwigs there.
It's all hype for now but at the same time Tucker Carlson has to go to court for the Smartmatic lawsuit though with Fox News, and Mike Lindell.

Going to NewsNation that sounds like something Don Lemon could consider. Yes even local Nexstar Owned stations like KRON, KTLA, WPIX , KSWB, KTXL have more viewers than NewsNation.

Well, yes. What we've learned over the last 20 years or so is no one wants to watch a centrist host for their milquetoast opinions. Enter Mr. Carlson and that problem solves itself.

This is a substantial victory for legitimate public interest journalism. We stand by what we published last June, and everything we laid out in our defence to the court. The imputations drawn by Murdoch from that article were ridiculous.
We stand by our position that Lachlan Murdoch was culpable in promoting the lie of the 2020 election result because he, and his father, had the power to stop the lies. How do we know? Because Dominion sued Fox News for promoting the lies and Fox just paid A$1.17 billion to Dominion to settle the case.

Murdoch’s lawyer made the absurd suggestion, in his statement of defeat today, that his client “remains confident that the court would ultimately find in his favour, however, he does not wish to further enable Crikey’s use of the court to litigate a case from another jurisdiction that has already been settled and facilitate a marketing campaign designed to attract subscribers and boost their profits”.
The fact is, Murdoch sued us, and then dropped his case.

We want to take a moment to thank all of those who helped us on this journey — our loyal readers, the ordinary Australians who contributed to our GoFundMe, the Crikey editorial team who’ve worked under immense pressure, the wider staff who have put in colossal additional effort to keep the business going while all this has been going on, our legal team Marque Lawyers, our subscribers for their many notes of support, and real journalists across Australia who do the hard and tough work of holding power to account.
We are proud of our stand. We are proud to have exposed the hypocrisy and abuse of power of a media billionaire.

This is a victory for free speech. We won.

The Crickey Op-ed was blaming the Murdoch's directly for their role in January 6th. And at least a section of this is tied to Tucker Carlson specials like Patriot Purge and the access he had to the January 6th footage.

Why Crickey got sued is crazy though. They were citing the January 6th Congressional hearings and the backlash on the Tucker Carlson specials. There are two people that resigned from Fox News because January 6th was a breaking point though and a third one for toxic culture at Fox News post Roger Ailes.
