We are coming up on about a year that WQDI (Channel 20) has been broadcasting a dead carrier with occasional flashes of the satellite feed on every channel.
I wrote to the group owners at their headquarters about this situation and got no reply.

What a joke. I hope that the satellite services which they say that they are running understand that they have not been seen on this channel in almost a year.

Really? I didn't think it was that long. I thought this all started at the beginning of the year?

I sent them a message about this yesterday. Haven't heard back yet, though they have replied in the past as DTV America.

I'm surprised the FCC hasn't gotten involved. While the rules are less strict for low powered stations, I would think that something like continuous dead air for more than a few months would result in some sort of fine. If HC2 can't currently fix the problem, at least go silent until the problem is fixed, or sell the station to someone who can fix it and air something worth watching.
 
Pretty sure that HC2 stations are all fed via IP, at least ours is. Not sure where the encoders for each station are, if they are all in one central location or at the individual transmit sites. At least I'm assuming that there is an encoder for each station, I don't see how you do this without one for each station.

I sent another message, but this this time it was a direct email to the licensee listed on their FCC license. We'll see what happens...

My 2nd message must have reached someone as WQDI-LD is now decoding fine as of 12:50 PM. There should be no more breakups now, unless it's reception related.

Most likely the handful of viewers who can receive their stations don't care, so they don't complain. If they do care, they most likely don't know who to complain to. Makes me wonder how HC2 monitors these stations for issues, as apparently they have no local engineers or anyone affiliated/employed with the company who monitors their stations. I guess they just sit back and wait for an average viewer to send a complaint, and are like, OMG! Someone can receive our signal?!
 
Just sent them another message about WQDI-LD broadcasting dead air, which has been going on for at least a week or so.
 
Noticed this evening that WQDI-LD is off the air, as my Zenith converter box isn't seeing anything on RF 21. Perhaps someone at HC2 finally realized that the station was broadcasting dead air and decided to go silent until the problem is fixed.
