A little off-topic

I listened to this station last night. Its true...they do play 3 or 4 songs an hour I would call Standards. But they also play soft rock songs from the 80s and 90s. Its a good mix but more of what I would call MOR or Soft AC

I thought the Standards format ended about 1970. Was i wrong? When did this happen? KWXS Goes From CHR To Standards - RadioInsight
Formats evolve as time advances. The "Classic Hits" term began in the early 90s for the 70s based stations flanking 50s/60s Oldies. Now Oldies is pretty much 60s through 80s with Classic Hits being 70s-early 2000s emphasizing 80s and 90s.

No station has been identified as MOR in decades. Soft AC plays very little in the Standards realm. Look at Cox's WFEZ Miami or WDUV Tampa or iHeart's WLIT Chicago and Breeze's in San Francisco and Sacramento for what is termed Soft AC nowadays.

The Adult Standards format has evolved quite a bit since the 80,s. It's now mostly 70's Soft Oldies/MOR, a smattering of Soft AC 70's through the 90's, a few oldies from the 60's, and the occasional Frank Sinatra or contemporary Standard (i.e. Diana Krall), at least that's what you hear now on America's Best Music, and LRN affiliates.

There are still a few real old school Standards stations out there, like if you remember the long gone WAMB with it's Big Band music.

I get your point. I still like MOR as a descriptive term. This doesnt sound like what I think of Adult Standards...though I can hear the evolution. This reminds of the Soft AC "Evergreen" format from the 80s. I like this format. I can easily listen all day and have..

Both Local Radio Networks and Westwood One have 'Adult Standards' 24/7 formats. The format never really went away, it just naps a little bit more often as it ages!
