NBCLX Shutting Down

NBCLX will soon go the way of NBC Weather Plus, G4, Olympic Channel, and NBC Sports Network. No exact shutdown date is known, but it will likely be mid-2023.

Other than Fox Weather and ABC Local-ish, I don't think we have any diginets with original programming now. Everyone else simply finds a way to re-package classic TV shows and movies.
Home shopping and paid religion aren't original programming? :ROFLMAO:

The subchannel they're on here sometimes has no audio. When their audio isn't out I've enjoyed watching some of their shows. I think NBC is probably putting their money into their national noon news show rather than this.

i guess the NBC News Now is about to get cleared to broadcast in inglorious SD in NBC O&O markets as subchannels when NBC LX folds.
or even the streaming local 24/7 news channels in NBC O&O markets.
Yes NBC Sports Bay Area did advertise LX between Warriors game time outs but that didn't get as much attention as "Find NBC Bay Area News feed on Peacock" does though.

Not shocking to see NBC LX goes away given that NBC News Now and the local O&O editions get more attention as part of NBC's Peacock app promotion.

Scripps News is essentially 100% original programming and the majority of Court TV during the work week is also original as court is in session then. And there are original shows on Bounce but the rest are reruns.

Local-ish is only limited to 8 ABC owned stations, if Disney wants to expand local-ish they should buy more stations.

Sub channels want cheap programming. You will never see much original content.

Original = risk. Just licensing old TV shows and lining up distribution is a winning formula. When Scripps bought Katz their four networks (Bounce, Grit, Excape, Laff) were averaging $45 million in revenue and $7.5 million in profit per year each.

Same with the Law & Crime Network (Court TV's biggest competitor) although it's more of a streaming network than a digitnet/streaming network like Court TV is

This channel is now called NBC LX Home with what appears to be a bunch of home makeover shows. I guess they dropped the news content and transitioned to more of a lifestyle network.

"NBC LX Home is a lifestyle network that celebrates home, wherever that may be. Featuring unbelievable renovation transformations, top interior design, aspirational property tours, immersive travel, home improvement and more. With Emmy Award-Winning programming and a built-in loyal fan base, NBC LX Home inspires viewers with daily renovation, design, real estate, and travel content. Here, your Home Matters."

Went from "We might cancel this channel" to slapping "home" on it and rebranding.

Can that survive 24/7.
