WTDY Stunting... but don't get your hopes up

WTDY has shifted to "Ninety Swift Five, T-A-Y" for the next four days, playing All-Taylor Swift to celebrate her three shows this weekend at the Linc.
I doubt this is any precursor to a format flip. If anything, they'll see if it brings ears to the station that could stay after sampling.

It’s directly tied to her concert this weekend. The fact the call sign is so similar makes this the perfect stunt opportunity.

I agree, it ain’t hinting at a flip; if anything, the format is soundly staying in place as this is… well… Taylor-made for TDY’s audience. (Sorry, I had to.)
It would be hypocritical for the grandparents of today's Swifties to criticize the stunt, given that they -- or at least the New Yorkers among them -- loved it when WABC became WA-Beatle-C in 1964.

other stations who arent flipping formats are doing similar on air programming/name changes

I’m pretty sure they just said that there will be something about a “new era of 96.5” on monday at 9am. I guess they are flipping?
Unless they were just referring to this weekend… I was recording the station so I will check the file when I have some time and see what they said

Yes '' Something new is coming on Monday at 9am''. And please some of you guy's don't say they're not going to flip. Anything is possible in this industry, same was said about The Breeze and look what happened.

Given the recent talent purge it wouldn't be too surprising to see them do some kind of realignment on the CHR-AC-Hot AC spectrum. More hip-hop throwbacks? More 90's?

As I was posting this RadioInsight updated their article to make note of the Monday morning announcement.

I've never heard a station hype a tweak.
Never be afraid to blaze new trails! But yes, coming off a weekend hyping a specific artist, it's likely whatever comes Monday morning will still include T Swift as a core artist

I've heard two of the promos, both of which are vague but promoting "Something New". Have clip of one of them embedded in updated news story. Don't have anything domain-wise to report yet and Audacy of all companies has gotten the best at masking their intentions until the last minute.

If it's me, I'm blazing a path right in between WMMR and WMGK with a 90s leaning Rock format to chip away at both as well as 104.5 especially with DeBella's announcement today. They still have the WYSP IP, but would theoretically need to reacquire the call letters.

While I'd love a 90s rock station, would Audacy put all this effort into getting Swifties listening, promoting the current format at the shows all weekend, just to pull the plug Monday and flip to something different?
