Glenn Ordway on how Entercom/Audacy management killed WEEI

I was onboard with him until the "controversy wins" shpeil. You might win over some WRKO listeners, but it's a bad long term play. 98.5 crushes WEEI without being controversial.

sorry Ordway, WEEI's "edgy" pseudo-conservative talk schtick got old and boring.

This has to be too funny to hear him offer his opinion on what happened. Did he happen to mention his D-list sports experts he continually rolled out as guests? Or, his stupid hot takes? It was over when he lost the Globe's writers who had some of the best insights into what was working and not working with Boston sports.

Wonder why the guy with all the answers for fixing the Boston sport issues wasn't hired as a GM for one of the teams.

Loke Ordway or not, the dismantling of The Big Show was a mistake. An obvious one.

Tom Speers, Butch from the Cape passed some years ago. John "JT The Brick" Tournour praised as greatest caller in sports talk radio. Frank probably gone too.
WRKO mostly avoids sports despite the new gambling show. They did have Red Sox (and Celtics) play by play for a time. Long ago they had Dick Lutsk at 6 pm after Jerry and a syndicated Pete Rose talk show.
Saw an old T bus at Seashore Trolley Museum in ME, complete with RKO ads for Williams, Brudnoy, Celtics--"talks a great game!"
Tom Leykis show was delayed at times by Sox games. "Submit to the Talkmaster! After the game on WRKO"

WEEI is getting hammered on social media for not having local hosts in today but them again the afternoon show they have is a disaster and anything they would have put out there wouldn't be any better than the national feed they were filling the time with.

I don’t see why it’s a big deal if weei isn’t the Celtics flagship. Big city sports media writers, Ive always felt, have nothing else better to do with their time

Was something different with WEEI the past few nights?
Around midnight, I was having trouble tuning in because the 93.7 music station from Hartford kept bleeding through.
