Momentum Broadcasting - Visalia

It looks like Momentum is now geofencing all their Internet audio streams.

For most of the US gone are streams for:
KJUG Tulare 106.7. (Country)
KCRZ Tipton 104.9 (Hits)
KVMI Tulare 1270 AM / 97.5 (mainstream)
KIOO Porterville 99.7 (Rock)

Except for KIOO it's no big loss. I will miss the chance to hear local advertisers with English-language spots. Time to switch to Fresno and Bakersfield sources.

That's going to be their loss, since all of their signals dont compare to the Eshom pt. stations.

yeah and? Outside of their local area, streaming doesnt matter much and some stations cant afford the royalties

99.7 KIOO I actually can get like more than 50 percent of the time on an outdoor Antenna 25 feet high, just barely outside of line of site, and now I cant stream it, they should include Fresno & Kern County, I get 104.9 and 106.7 fine, just not interested in them.

Momentum gets no monetary benefit streaming outside of Tulare or Kings counties, only cost. The only station that reaches Fresno with a usable signal is KJUG and unless they get advertisers in Fresno, there's no benefit.

KIOO could move north to Rocky Hill near Exeter except for one signal that's just too close, failing separation limits. The limiting factor would be KMAK 100.3. . Perhaps someday the FCC will see the light and remove the third-adjacency separation rule. (KIOO also can't re-relocate to Blue Ridge because of the IF separation limits with KDUV 88.9, another Class B).

I Didnt mention the 4th station, "My" 97.5 is KABX Merced LOL, 1270 AM comes in.

I've heard AM 1270 a few times here in Alaska and it was a regular in wyoming.

Looks like 97.5 is a good signal for a 250 watt translator

I noticed that KVMI 1270 (My 97.5) has 2 FM translators 97.5 and 98.5 with the same power at the same location, I wonder why that is, maybe interference to the north with KABX???

Ive never seen or heard them promote 98.5 either

Perhaps 98.5 is relaying KUFW now. The Chávez group owns the translator. I did note that the coverage pattern is shown incorrectly at fccdata.org. It should be portrayed as pointing towards Visalia per the technical document..

A follow-on.. KUFW does ID the Porterville translator K296GH 107.1 but that's it. K296GH is a non-fill-in third-party translator transmitting with 10 watts from a smaller tower near KIOO's.

Sort of geographically related: The Visalia LPFM KVLP-LP on 101.5 has had its license cancelled early this month... No additional details.

It's interesting. Geofencing used to be a way to avoid spots and music rights costs from going out of market. Of course, streaming companies charge more to geofence your streams, and with the workaround of potential listeners using subscription VPN services, I don't think geofencing a stream alone will be enough.
