840 Country on the air in ABQ

Here is what aired during the 11am hour. A couple songs might be missing since it can be somewhat challenging to get Google to find lyrics to old country songs (always tries to find modern pop songs with fragmented lyrics)

The Devil Went Down to Georgia - The Charlie Daniels Band
I'm Just Me - Charley Pride
I'd Like to Sleep 'til I Get Over You - Freddie Hart
Forty and Fading - Ray Price
<commercial break>
Wall to Wall Love - Bob Gallion
Holding on to Nothing - Porter Wagoner and Dolly Parton
You're the Only Good Thing (That's Happened to me) - Jim Reeves
<commercial break>
Guitars, Cadillacs - Dwight Yoakam
Daydream Believer - Anne Murray
16th Avenue - Lacy J. Dalton
I'm Movin On - Hank Snow
Big River - Johnny Cash
My Son Calls Another Man Daddy - Hank Williams
Little Girl Gone- Donna Fargo
To a Sleeping Beauty - Jimmy Dean
<commercial break>
Long Long Texas Road - Roy Drusky
Country Sunshine - Dottie West
Why Lovers Turn to Strangers - Freddie Hart

However, I heard frequent bursts of static and crackles about every minute. Perhaps my computer or Wi-Fi could be the cause but that may be the reality of AM radio in the 21st century.

Thank you AbqA for verifying a song list for KDNF. Didn't find a website yet nor a mention of the new station on the KD radio site.
A phone app would be great to tune in to the genuine country format while traversing the open highways of New Mexico and beyond. Guess I'm waxing nostalgic just a bit.

Too bad the KRZY call letters are already taken. Then the era of "Krazy K-R-Z-Y" could have been revived.

In its earlier days, KRZY was also known as "Krazy" - here's an ad in the January 11, 1963 issue of the Albuquerque newspapers. What a lineup this must have been!KRZY-Show.jpg

Didn't the old KARS air country on this frequency? That listing from 1993 a while ago had it as country and Spanish on 860 but it's the same facility.

According to Radio-Locator, it's 840 KDNF Belen. 1,800 watts days, 30 watts nights, all non-directional. No website listed.

Radio-Locator lists a 99-watt FM translator at 102.9 in Albuquerque.

KARS was 860 and 97.7. It aired country in the daytime and Spanish-language programming at night.

97.7 upgraded to its current facilities (or very similar to its current facilities) in early 1995, and that was when it became KLVO and went to regional Mexican.
