My favorite commercial alternative rock terrestrial stations at the moment would be:
1) 91X/San Diego
2) 99X/Atlanta
3) 105.7 The Point/St. Louis
4) 105.9 The X/Pittsburgh
Looking forward to what the future holds for 99X. They're bringing back a lot of their personalities, and have stated they'll be playing new music too.
Yet, when A to XYZ happened, it brought back a lot of listeners and had their best ratings in a long time, because it brought back a lot of songs they rarely spin, and celebrated their entire station's history.
Half of the audience left once they realized the direction was classic focused, causing multiple Reddit threads of people saying stuff like this:
or many huge fans of the station being a bit disappointed that they're going to focus on new music less:
The ratings have been near how they were before, maybe a bit of an upward trend again which I'm happy for, but they're still constantly pushing new music even if it's getting rotated less. Look at the currents they were rotating a couple weeks ago, that's more than I see Iheart or Audacy stations play, so clearly they don't have any vendetta towards the current alternative atmosphere they were barely at fault for to begin with. That's impressive and it's the main reason I still am a huge fan like I was of them before the direction change.
I mean hell, they added Wagging Tongue from Depeche Mode and Get Me Ready from Pepper just today and YOU NEEDED A HIT// by Kennyhoopla last week.
