Yet iHeart does very good research, and that is what they found the largest subset of alternative listeners in Indianapolis to like.
I don't actually think ZML is the first to adopt the classic alt format, to be fair.92.9 WZML is Philly’s Classic Alternative. The first station in the country that adopted the classic alternative format.
Y100 is a heritage brand that people still remember today.
No, not really. We hope to change that at some point, but 92.9 is occupied by the Germantown LPFMs and WOOM, though they've been off air for a little while now.At 5 watts does it even reach Philadelphia from Bryn Mawr?
In fact WOLT gets a 3 share in Indianapolis, which is better than WRFF in Philly.
Three of the past four surveys were near a 2 share, and AQH share over the past year is below 103.3's long term average.
Satellite radio has done classic alternative since the beginning, 2001. I bet some online radio station did it even earlier then that.I don't actually think ZML is the first to adopt the classic alt format, to be fair.

Sirius 1st Wave was available at launch, XM‘s Fred the same. Both with a 80s focus, the 90’s focused classic alternative channels came later.Lucy on XM launched in 2004, Lithium on Sirius in 2008 it looks like.
On the FM dial, the earliest true "Classic Alternative" stations I can think of:
103.1 the Wave- Salt Lake City
97.5 Radio X- St. Cloud, MN
and more recently, 95.1 the River- Texarkana, and of course 99x Atlanta, Indy 103.3 Indianapolis etc.
why dont you try and grab 104.1 mt laurel, bring this format to an area which embraces this type music, much better than west philly......ritmo seems to be playing games this station has great coverage....
I believe when Sirius first launched they had a good all Punk channel, and their classic alternative was deep. When both merged they unloaded many good channels, its sad they combined, competition makes a good listen but greed is king.
There's this cool new thing called streaming 😉You are lucky you have diversity on your FM dial in Philly, cheesesteaks, and Philly Pretzels 🥨! I do miss Radio 104.5. In NYC we don't have alternative rock or country.
You can't stream food. There's this cool new thing called streaming 😉
Thanks for bringing up this radio station. I've been listening to it all day and love the huge music library. I've discovered a few songs I never heard before.92.9 WZML is Philly’s Classic Alternative.
Oh well, find some great NY eats and stream whatever music you want. You can't stream food.
You can hardly accuse them of "greed" when neither was making money after years of trying. When both merged they unloaded many good channels, its sad they combined, competition makes a good listen but greed is king.
