Boston Radio Ratings: May 2023

how hard is it to sell real estate?

Getting listings requires some ability to schmooze.

selling off MLS is easy, show houses, write up offer, get deposit, present offer, present counter offer.... fill in a bunch of forms and follow a process that is pretty much established.

Selling real estate well is the same as doing a morning show well. It requires all the normal technical skills involving contracts, inspections, insurance, escrow, financing if the buyer has none, and so on. But it requires a certain amount of charisma, charm and personality that make the advice given credible and the confidence level heighten.

Howie was “playing along” wit the schtick. People who called in might not have picked up on the inside joke
People didn't pick up on it because it was extremely embarrassing and not the least bit funny. They owe their audience an apology for airing such nonsense AND if it was an "inside joke" it made his wife look like a raging biatch.

Last year Kirk Minihane called Howie during his podcast. Howie was game and after chatting for a couple minutes you hear Kathy yell from the other room "HANG UP HANG UP NOW!". Followed by Howie "what? what's the matter?" followed by "HANG UP THE PHONE NOW!". Howie makes a quick "I gotta go, sorry" to Kirk then hangs up.

Kathy, a former salesperson at WRKO, is the architect and driving force behind the radio network. A petite, tightly wound woman, her aggressive sales tactics have hastened her husband’s transition from celebrated local journalist to human moneymaker. She is lauded in the industry for creating a syndicated radio network from scratch, though closer to home she is appraised less kindly. “She’s gonna work that guy till he dies, making sure that he’s making money,” says a local media figure who knows Howie well.

I thought it was extremely amusing and funny. The bit about his wife being the boss and Howie cowering and accommodating. “Yes My Love”.

But it appears she (like many wives) is his motivation for expanding his domain of work projects. If she was in radio sales, she understands the business and the term “value added”.

It is also encouraging to see WRKO surge in the 6 and up rating to its highest level in a long time. The station is only 0.1 behind WBZ. Again, live and local talk radio with Jeff in the morning and Howie in the afternoon is a winning combination for an AM Talk Station.
Jeff Kuehner really flipped out today over a call from Ben from North Andover.

I was able to find it on the podcast. He is questioning the IQ of the Liberal callers to his show? And it is a show not a program.
And remember it is K U H N as in Nancy E R

Howie is like Matt Taibbi, guys that have sold their souls because the media in which they were operating are going all buggy-whip and they need that new-grift smell

Some women have the ability to lead men around by the .... nose

On the other hand, my wife is 1/2 Sicilian, so if I don't do what she says I might end up in the trunk of a Lincoln Continental... so "Yes dear" is a well-established saying in my household! :D

do you know how hard it is to find a car with a trunk big enough for a body these days?

Is someone really going to desecrate a classic Lincoln with the stench of a rotting corpse?

If she buys an new freezer, is buying sawz-all blades, bleach by the case, and has a reservation to rent a wood chipper I suggest you start doing what she says.

Shovels, tarps, and bags of lime are another bad sign....

as are gallons of ethylene glycol anti freeze under the sink and she is asking you to try the new Gatorade

Must be a cultural thing, she's always referring to the size of trunks in terms of the number of bodies it can hold... e.g. my new Camry has a "1 and a half body trunk", according to her....

Everytime ratings up Kuhnah's name pops up. Amazing.

Talk radio is now so watered down. When I turn on Howard in the afternoon all I hear is him chirping about some gizmo then they go to a ton of commercials.

*Radio off

You mean the Howie Carr Cheap Bastard deal?

I'm actually surprised he didn't fire Grace when she told him she was pregnant. Paying maternity leave must really stick in his goard.
