90.7 KSQD purchases two stations from EMF

Looks like KSQD here was able to purchase 89.7 KNVM and 89.5 K208GE.

Noticed the 89.7 signal with KQSD and looked into what happened.

Since EMF here has 88.9 KLVM and 97.9 KARW both with wide coverage I guess they no longer needed these.

Looks like they raised $400,000 to purchase both. Personally surprised they parted with them since they don't exactly need cash.

There is another piece now to this puzzle that involves both the Bay Area and Salinas-Monterey markets.

EMF just filed to move KJLV 97.7 to the East Bay (eastern San José) . To accomplish this move KARW 97.9 will be downgraded to a Class A.

So, what's the logic here? Perhaps a stronger signal over San Jose and giving up some North Bay coverage in the process!

Not the East Bay at all.

EMF plays the long game. They're serving SF with a rimshot from Livermore and a translator.

They'll do the full signal in San Jose now---and when someone (Cumulus? Audacy?) has a fire sale for a couple of full-market FMs in the City, they'll grab those for K-Love and Air1.

By the way, Michael Rivers Kramer is right---East San Jose is about ten air miles south of the southernmost part of San Francisco Bay. You can't be East Bay without a bay to be east of.

This might explain why KARW has had HD off for several weeks now.

I wonder if they plan to just discontinue it for KARW.

I agree tho downgrading the signal of KARW doesn't make much sense. It seems where I'm at is going to be a vastly weaker signal now. Given the terrain here KJLV when moved wont well here if at all. If it does it will be full of multipath.
