KLTN audio

Anyone know what's up with KLTN's audio? The audio quality right now sounds like if it was on AM, I noticed this during the day on Friday, just tuned in again and the audio still sounds like that.

KAMA no Rds for over a month.
It came back 3 days ago and was off 2 days ago and I saw it back on last night. Haven't checked tonight.

I had just checked and it does sound flat. The HD does actually sound normal though

Backup audio processor, perhaps?

KLTN has been sounding bad for almost a month now. On HD 1 it has a little clicking sound. HD2 sounds perfect, HD3 once in a while sound like crumbling speakers.

"A good job" is evidently debatable, judging from the lackluster audio quality, and other quality escapes.
In the Houston PPMs, in the most recent weekly they had the highest share in about a year.

I do want to add for awhile their only RDS scrolling text just says KLTN and they have no RT. I don't think their audio quality sounded THAT bad.

I had actually noticed their audio sounding like this on two or three other ocassions back around March/April, but didn't say anything as the audio seemingly went back to normal later in the day/the next day. However, their audio still sounding bad after just checking.

Since KAMA-FM is technically on the same tower, I did check them and they are actually sounding normal.

Maybe they can get Power 105.3's engineer to help them out and increase power as well. :p

I'm impressed they actually have listeners to their SHOUTcast stream, hosted off of a cable modem. Guarantee one of the "listeners" is the Barix box directly feeding their overpowered xmtr.

Digging around what else is on that IP, you can also find that the transmitter for 92.5 is running at 2000W.... Interesting.Screenshot 2023-07-03 083211.png

They are at the maximum power that any FM in the US can possibly have.
The sarcasm zinged right past you. The poster was noting the excess power that the 105.3 translator is operating with. You have to drive past Waller going west on 290 before you start to hear KTWL fighting for the frequency, more than 40 miles from the translator and 20 miles from the KTWL transmitter.

In other news, looks like someone over at the pirate operation is following along with this post, because port 80 with the xmtr control no longer responds šŸ˜‚
