KJAV sale

  • Wow
Reactions: HTX
BI-MEDIA LICENSEE, LLC has 104.9 KJAV now and they got it in 2015.

It seems like Border overpaid for that station.
Back then, the thought was that you might cash flow over $700,000 and get loans at 5%, so the spread was a safe 5%.

The network used to air on an LPFM station (KNIU-LP) in Kansas City before KNIU started having transmitter problems earlier this year. Guess they're just good at working things out and expanding.

They've been around for a long time. KRGE 1290 was one of the last AM top-40 holdouts before picking up the Pure Gold satellite oldies format in 1988. Two or three years later, Christian Ministries of the Valley bought it. I believe that was the organization's first station, though it might've launched 105.7 in Raymondville just ahead of taking over KRGE. It got both of those at about the same time.

Maybe it's legal for them to operate LPFMs from out of state?

Why wasn’t recently sold KJAV 104.9 an option to get NPR back to the RGV? Has this plan been abandoned? I don’t think the people involved have really tried to get it done. I believe KRIX 105.5 for Cameron County and KJAV 104.9 for Hidalgo County would have been the way to go. Lost opportunity if you ask me.

Because it wasn't. this is a business. anyone could've bought it and maybe a regional npr member station looked at it and decided it was too much $

i can confirm that it will be spanish.
I can verify that they will be using content from a syndicator that only provides English language programming. Go find the website and socials for the station. They're not masking what they're going to do... Perhaps I'll have it on a Domain insight report later this week.
