630 bleeding over all the way to 670 is unacceptable, even with IBOC garbage. Is that an original-equipment radio in that Blazer or a cheap-o replacement? The OEM radios in the '90s cars I owned (an Altima and a Civic) lost the nearby AMs no more than 20 kHz up or down.

570 = WWNC Asheville?
700 = WZOO Asheboro?
The 850 might be Raleigh.

I'm surprised WWNC wouldn't be easy to hear. If any Asheville stations reached Hickory that would surely would be heard. It's 5000 watts on the left end of the dial.

I think 850 is Raleigh too but I never heard it that far west.

1040 might be WSGH in the Winston-Salem NC area, which is Spanish.

1150 could be WAVO Rock Hill SC which is now a translator for the Billy Graham station.

1480 could be WGFY Charlotte. It's directional but it's not out the question.

'Tis an original radio in that Blazer. I was surprised at how many stations had bleedover from WAIZ. The only explanation I might could think of is being so close to the station (I was actually a little closer to Conover than Hickory). Though there was next to no bleedover with WNNC, which operates off the same tower as 63 Big Ways

Shit, I never thought of WWNC! Will have to look it over again next time I'm down

I doubt 700 was WZOO. You do good to get that station past the city limits of Greensboro

That's very cool. Obviously a daytime scan, with all the stations coming from mostly North Carolina.

Is this something that interests everyone here? Would there be interest in a daytime AM scan of east Texas? I do most of my DX at night, but wouldn't mind giving a who's who of daytime signals available in Tyler.

Go for it, man!

And on that note, I'm likely heading to Hickory again later this week to watch the races at Hickory Speedway, so I'll try and do a nighttime AM scan, if time allows!

Thank you all for the info on this! I think I've figured out a couple of the ones I was missing.........1250 was WBRM out of Marion, NC. I'm convinced 1360 was WCHL

540 oldies MIGHT be the last breath of Sylva, NC which is in the very western part of NC. I do get to Asheville and Marion several times a year.

That station has changed formats. When I was in the area last month it was 105.7 the River, either Mainstream or Hot AC.

Just some thoughts here, vis a vis your Hickory AM / Chevy dial scan .... some 'could be's'. The guesswork patterns are off that nf8m site.
WZAP 690 was a fairly easy SSS catch back in Qieens. Old logbooks have had them at 10,000 omni watts for the longest while.
So, if it's them, The 980 from Bristol isn't a real big stretch ; 5000 omini.
The 1250 Country might be WFRM from Marion.
Good luck with the search and the clues! And whatever, if anything useful, I thought, too, hi.

I'd enjoy reading day and night scans from Tyler.
I've mentioned it before but something I didn't get to do during my time in Houston was DX from north of town. No doubt it's dramatically different than what I heard living in the Bay Area.
Enjoyed reading the Hickory bandscan and would enjoy a nighttime report from there. I've never been to North Carolina so this is all new to me.

From the for what it's worth department, WFRM is @ 600KHz from Coudersport PA.
