KMBX-AM 700 kHz Soledad, CA

Maybe the board op "forgot" to switch to night pattern/power. Believe me, this happens incessantly in small market AM radio.
I learned about "Football Power" firsthand on my first professional radio gig just a few months out of college. I was visiting with an engineer at WKTY in LaCrosse, WI. He freely admitted that for Friday night away football games, WKTY ran at 5kw day power. Given that WKTY was/is at 580, the "forgetful Fridays" accomplished their intended purpose. For home games WKTY stayed at normal 1kw (and still got out quite well),
