WFFG Silent notification

Studios and offices were on Boot Key plus a pretty nice two bedroom apartment on the second floor. There was no municipal water available so they had to depend on rainwater collected in a cistern.
Interesting. Sounds like a real shame, what happened to Boot Key.

It appears that the most recent studios and offices for WFFG, and three other related stations, at 1638 Overseas Highway, are now a fly fishing shop.

The island is blocked from development due to conservation, so little financial incentive to run electric especially for a broadcast AM station.

A couple of things:

1) Florida utility law/regulations states that if power was ever delivered it must continue to be delivered at the utilities expense. Therefore, the utility must restore power. Otherwise power companies could decline to restore electric power to locations they consider unprofitable rather than providing universal service.

2) There is an FM (WGMX) located on Boot Key that needs power restored.

3) Boot Key has several crab and lobster fishermen with work yards on the island.
