And if they do stream, there will likely be a geofence, but how wide an area that covers can also vary.

If you’re in-market in Denver, you should have no issues streaming a game on KOA, unless the contract for that game prohibits it.

People use VPN to get around geofencing. Some teams/leagues only permit stations to stream the pre and post shows because it leaves subscription-streaming in-game open to the league in the future. Besides, the station usually only gets ad revenue from the pre, post and halftime portions of the broadcast.

First, the team may have kept all the digital streaming rights. Second, most of them would know that there are lots of ways around geofencing.

It depends on the teams and the leagues. MLB as an example, has started offering streaming of large market teams for a subscription fee. Other teams like the NBA are rumored to start the same soon as well. Pro sports leagues don't want to box themselves into a corner by allowing some radio station to stream games. That would be potentially future-limiting for the organization.
