Spring data for Palm Springs shows LGBTQ+ formatted KGAY with a healthy 4.0 share making it 9th in the market. This is their best book ever, and is a nice achievement for what is a full service station for that community. It is, in fact, a very listenable station for anyone who likes an adult focused rhythmic pop format.

It's at KGAY 106.5 Radio Palm Springs, Pride of the Valley

It is a frequent stream for me in Portland, Oregon. The Carpet Empire Plus commercials are living in my head rent free.

Interesting that they didn't have rating for KQPS/KMEE that Brad also took over with the MeTV FM format.

I think it's actually 6th, unless there are non-subscribers in the top 8 that I can't see.

It's a great station, very easy to listen to and sing along with.

Yes, there are non-subscribers

Has anyone ever tried a Spanish Language Dance or Spanish urban station like the Los Angeles ''MEGA'' in the palm springs market? Asking cause i see the regional mexican stations do very well in numbers but i dont see any stations that play reggaetón or Spanish pop

Fuego 103.5 is reggaetón and Hispanic trap and rhythmic.

yeah, saw that afterwards. Neilsen still directs to the tricolor page and even the fuego Facebook still has tricolor as its url ..they must not really do much local stuff! David what would you think a top-rated station in this case it's a regional Mexican station could bill in a market #131 maybe 80k a month? seems like a small market surrounded by big markets.

La Poderosa, KUNA, bills just over $150,000 a month and La Suavecita does about $100,000 a month. Fuego is a start-up and is doing just under $50,000 a month now.

KUNA is the highest market biller, followed by rhythmic CHR KKUU and then KLOB, La Suavecita. All three are predominantly Hispanic stations.

I'm going to take a guess that 80-90% of the revenue comes from national accounts. I see that la Poderosa has tv support and i guess its owned by the same people that own Telemundo 15 in the market but having a 9 share is impressive, but I've heard the station, and I don't hear anything impressive when it comes to the talents or just general programming. .

Nope. It is mostly local, and comes from the affiliation / ownership of each by companies that have the Univision and Telemundo TV stations here.

And the Telemundo owners, Press-Gazette, have the ABC, CBS, Fox and a bunch of other channels. The Univision owner, Entravision, has the NBC TV operation and several secondary channels. They take a huge portion of all ad spending in the Valley.

La Poderosa is local, well done and very entrenched. Music is right on, and the talent is doing the right thing. Nothing unusual, but nothing wrong, either.

And they have expanded the FM Reach.

"KGAY PSP LGBTQ+ Dance “KGAY 106.5” 1270 KGAY/106.5 K293CL Thousand Palms/Palm Springs has expanded its coverage in the Coachella Valley as it is now simulcasting on 92.1 KKCM Thermal/Indio."
