WJBR sold to VCY???

Is Beasley gonna move 'JBR to 'PEN next?
why would they? theyd go up against established FMs in same or similar formats in and adjacent to the market and lose all that revenue that sports broadcasting brings them....... sports may not always rate well, but it usually bills like the dickens.

(hot ac, ac, chr..... to the average every day listener, they are mostly the same.. only us radio people truly truly know the difference how do i know? ive worked at a few variations of an AC format and multiple people claled it all "pop music" or "Rap crap")

I’m going to miss the christmas competition from WJBR. Yes, it will always be WJBR to me. Beasley can add Mix to the name, but it will always be WJBR, just like Big 98.1 will always be Oldies 98 with the Cadillac to me. Sweet dreams JBR!

The big story here is VCY has Christian Stations so WJBR will most likely flip to a Christian Format.
Not just “most likely”, but rather WJBR will flip to VCY’s national religious format.

VCY has been on the prowl for station acquisitions lately, resembling EMF’s expansion model. With station valuations cratering, the time is right.

Surprising, indeed. Does any of this indicate when the closing date might be?
To close, they have to get FCC approval. If this is a "clean and simple" sale, that is taking around a couple of months. After that, closings are usually at the end of the month in course. I'd guess October 31 for a close. Mr. Fybush can probably update us on how quickly the FCC is acting now, as I am just guessing based on recent sales I have been tracking.

If you have or get VCY in your market, youd pray and wish for Klove.

Sales in general take 60-90 days for FCC approval and closing. Most likely we're looking at mid-November.

VCY isn't going to find its audience in Wilmington, DE. They are old-school, BBN-type Christian teaching and talk programs, plus instrumental religious music late at night. They may get a few listeners who go to the Baptist churches, but not the younger Christians - or any of the secular audience. This is a big loss to Delaware radio. RIP WJBR, 1957-2023.
