Kansas City not one of them

Uhh...

Unless you count Nexstar owned Fox AFFILIATE WDAF as an O&O of The CW, Kansas City not being on the list shouldn't be surprising

KCWE is the CW and is a property at moment of Hearst. Yes KCTV5 has an APP so might WDAF for News and those are just for News not rest of Channels programming like Primetime,Sports and so on.

KCTV's newscasts are also available live and on-demand on the VuIT app. Hearst is on NewsON, VuIT, and, I believe, Local Now, but, at least on NewsON, its newscasts are on a one-hour delay. Scripps is on NewsON and Local Now.

Nexstar, far as I know, isn't on any streaming aggregators, but it makes at least its stations' most recent newscasts available on their station apps. Recently, Nexstar has, however, implemented a two hour delay on streaming of newscasts. Not sure if that's two hours from the beginning or the end, though. Hearst's delay is one hour from the beginning.

Also, yes, KCWE is Hearst, and it has renewed its affiliation with the CW for its stations that carry the network. Hearst picked up the CW for KQCA in Sacramento after CBS dropped the network from it's sister station to KOVR there. Part of the agreement to affiliate KQCA with the CW included extensions on the company's other stations that carry the network. Nexstar has been scrambling to find affiliates for the CW in markets where CBS had previously had it. FTV Live has mentioned strong rumors that it will buy at least some of the new CBS independent stations.

KCWE will always be the property of Hearst. They're like Disney/ABC. They won't sell to ANYONE !! They'd rather part with The CW affiliation before they sell the station

And what does KCTV have to do with this discussion?? They're owned by Gray

He was talking about Kansas City not being among local markets to have stations on the Roku Channel. KCTV is a Kansas City station.

The most recent additions to the Roku Channel have been CBS and Fox O&O's. KC hasn't had a network O&O since Fox dealt WDAF-TV about 15 years ago. Fox sold it along with KDVR in your area and a handful of other stations.

I did check the Roku Channel last night after reading this thread. Gray stations are appearing on it. I found both WSMV and KMOV as options for live news. Don't remember seeing KCTV there, but my guess is that it will arrive at some point. Plus, as I mentioned, Gray offers all of its stations, including KCTV, on VuIT. WDAF-TV is the only KC station among the Big 4 affiliations that isn't on at least one of the content aggregators.

KC's news channels, including WDAF-TV, are all on YouTube

I knew WDAF-TV had a regular YouTube channel. Never saw any full length newscasts there, though. Nexstar is also affiliated with Haystack News, and you can occasionally find reports from WDAF-TV there, too. Never found anything but occasional reports there either. Far as I know, you can't watch any Nexstar newscasts in their entirety anywhere but the station websites and apps.

Nexstar originally made all of its stations available on NewsON. Can't remember when it pulled them off. Don't remember hearing the rationale either, but some companies that were early adapters didn't like its affiliation with Sinclair, which has steadily grown its stake in the app.

I suspect you can get all KC locals on YouTube TV if you pay for it and live close enough to KC. TV operators love their retrans fees.

Yes KMBC and WDAF on Haystack but not hole Newscast. KCTV5 on it's APP can watch live,Past Newscast and Live National News. They don't even show hole channel programming that's not Local on their APP's Antenna doesn't pick up all of Channels that are available in KC area sometimes they go out and doesn't even pick up National other Languages ones that some pick up.

🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

I have no words lol for the pointlessness.

I know all of this

What I was saying is that KC isn't the only one not on the Roku Channel & the closest thing to an "O&O" it has is Fox affiliate WDAF 4 (Which, like The CW, is owned by Nexstar)

As for how KCTV 5 came into the discussion, I have NO clue (@Mgomrjsurf was the one who brought them up

And @radiofan2023 - A prescence on YouTube doesn't count as EVERY station has a YouTube channel & is likely available on YouTube TV (Most of the Denver stations are)

They have an News APP KCTV5.

So why did you bring up KCTV 5?? It has NOTHING to do with this discussion

Perhaps you might want to clue us in on what we may be missing?? I'm BAFFLED (Am I the only one??)
