Cheap AM Transmitter

Good Lord. Have you tried typing 'Personal AM transmitter' into Google?
There are so many choices, your head will spin.

Why AM?
 
When a station is done for fun, the band and power and coverage are not the criteria. Why do people collect old cancelled postage stamps?
