GARY WRIGHT "THE DREAM WEAVER" HAS DIED

Joining the A&M Family in sending sympathies to Gary's family and friends. As I write this, there are no details beyond David Pack and Stephen Bishop announcing Gary's passing.

Gary was signed to A&M from 1970 to 1974 (four albums including "Wright's Wonderwheel," "Extraction," "Footprint" and the U.K.-only Ring Of Changes), and associated with A&M again in 1988 when his Cypress Records album "Who I Am" was distributed by A&M.”

Another great singer passes. That's three in just three days. Loved his song 'Dream Weaver'. May you RIP, Gary!

That article says no cause of death was announced, so where are you getting the Parkinson’s and Lewy body dementia from?

Rolling Stone:

Wright’s son, Justin, confirmed the musician’s death to Rolling Stone, adding that the cause was Parkinson’s disease and Lewy body dementia. According to Justin, Wright was diagnosed with Parkinson’s “around six or seven years ago” before a subsequent dementia diagnosis. “He managed it fairly well for a while,” Justin tells Rolling Stone. “But a few years ago, he needed professional help and home-care nurses and eventually 24-hour care.”

Dream Weaver is an all time classic. But you have to hear the full song with the complete intro and outro in order to get the full "experience" of the song. The one thing I can't stand is when radio stations cut either the intro or ending short.

Keep in mind that usually it isn't radio that cuts the intro or ending of songs. The record label, with permission of the artist, will release what they call a "single edit" of longer songs. That was the case with Dream Weaver. The album version was over 4 minutes, and the label put out a single edit at 3:15. That was the version that went to #1. When a classic hits station plays the song, they're playing the single edit.

My classic hits station airs the whole thing if I recall. Others love their revenue from commercials so they slice and dice everything until the song only lasts 2:30. We wonder why so many are switching to streaming now.
He had another hit with "Really Wanna Know You" in 1981...#16 on the Hot 100
