AZ Family Anchor Carousel

August 23 2023 Simone Cuccurullo joined Good Morning Arizona in the 'Tess Role' working the anchor desk from 4:30 to 6 AM.

Two weeks ago, Kylee Cruz said that there was some staff shuffling and David Caltabiano would be working GMAZ weekends. He was also welcomed to weekday GMAZ.

Whitney Clark has been working the Good Evening Arizona for the past two weeks. I assumed when Kylee discussed changes, David would be taking her place, as Kylee will be going on maternity leave in November. Is Whitney moving to weekday evening or just subbing for Jamie Cerreta?

And Colton Shone will be going on paternity leave soon. Assuming Gina Maravilla will fill in until Colton returns?

I did see an introduction of Simone D. this morning on GMAZ. I did note that Whitney had been subbing for Jamie and others in the evenings (assumed it was just vacation relief). I think David makes a good fit on weekend GMAZ. Hopefully, he will become a bit smoother of an anchor as time goes on.

Hmm...another 3pm newscast?!? Isn't the news repetitive enough as it is? And who on earth will do the weather??? They might have to hire another weather anchor...lol!

So should we start taking bets on how long a 3PM newscast will last? Remember the 10AM GMAZ that quietly went away after 3-ish months?
Probably through at least November 2024. The political ads have already started, and I'd guess that the campaign hucksters would rather have their ads be placed inside a newscast than Dr. Phil.

Per my online TV listings, Kelly Clarkson is gone at 2 PM, replaced by Dr. Phil effective Monday.

Particularly when the lovely Jaime Cerreta is anchoring...

Seriously though, does anyone have any ideas about what the evening anchor lineup will be? Is it just Jaime at 3pm and Whitney at 9pm with everything else the same. Of course, I'm asking about anchor lineups when they apparently only work 4 days a week, so the anchor pairings mean very little at AZ Family.

So KTVK/KPHO is losing/lost Kelly & Dr. Phil, who is retiring? Wondering which show(s) are going to fill the vacuum?

Is the new 3pm newscast supposed to be a "stealth" newscast or something? I haven't seen any promos for it, which is strange because I watch 3/5 quite a bit. In fact, I saw a promo yesterday that was promoting the current lineup.

Additionally, it seems odd that they would stick Jaime at 3pm as popular as she seems to be. I hope that she still anchors sometime later in the evening.

I saw a FB video today about the 3pm newscast. Jaime posted that Derek, Paul, and Sean will also be on the show. I wonder if there will be additional anchor shuffles.

The Shone family welcomed their baby on Saturday. Mother and child are doing well.

David Caltabiano was on the 4:30AM desk and said he'd be subbing for Colton. Also over the weekend, David said he was "in for Whitney Clark." Assuming some of the reporters will start taking on anchoring duties.

I'm watching the AZ Family News @ 3 this afternoon. I actually like it. For now, they are doing more than just rehashing the same news over and over again. We will see how long it lasts. I also noticed that Jaime anchored the noon newscast on Friday (apparently Nicole was off).

Another point to mention: Your Life A to Z is back to being an hour. During the COVID era it was shrunk down to 30 minutes and then maybe one or two days a week.

There are a lot of talking points about these types of programs but I like hosts Suzanne Bissett and Darrell J. Cunningham and some of the segments are interesting.

Additionally, it should be noted that the Noon news is now an hour long on 3, but 5 only airs the first half hour. If I counted correctly, 3 airs 12.5 hours of news per day. More than half their day is local news.

They also dumped the judges, replacing them with Last Man Standing between 11 AM and 12 Noon. Jeopardy reruns were moved to 1:30 PM.
