WJBR sold to VCY???

As I stated earlier in the thread, the call change does not take effect until closing. It is still legally WJBR-FM.

VCY does NOT own WJBR-FM yet. Everything is originating from Beasley still.

No consummation has been filed with the FCC. And what does it matter how the flip happens? We as radio geeks (me as a guy with over 1000 format change airchecks archived) care, but the audience is not going to be retained. At closing it wouldn't even surprise me to see VCY take the station silent for a bit as they are doing in South Bend. They will still need to install their satellite dish and equipment at the transmitter site etc...
OK with the bold there: I didn't know that the deal hadn't closed. And you of all people know that I already know the rest of what you said here. All I'm saying is if I bought a station, I'd want to get started with my own business as soon as I could. I thought the deal had closed at midnight. I don't think I'm the only one who thought that. In fact, I think Mike Rossi posted that on Facebook. Could be wrong about that.

It's not as if WJBR's on-air staff has spent the past few days telling listeners what the station's new owners are going to be doing with it, either. Does VCY do any advertising in their new markets? Maybe notifying conservative evangelical churches through releases addressed to their pastors, with the preachers hopefully plugging the new station to their congregations on Sunday? Middletown, CT, has a homegrown teach-and-preach station, WIHS, that has used billboards and bumper stickers ("Good News! WIHS 104.9 FM") to spread the word. Does VCY do this?

In all likelihood, the VCY engineers are tinkering with the equipment now, installing whatever is needed to carry the satellite feed that'll be airing 24/7 and prepping it for air. 99.5 WJBR as we knew it is effectively dead. Beasley washed their hands of it yesterday, and VCY is in no rush to get their broadcasts on the air- they're taking full control soon and will be broadcasting their "preaching and teaching" until the next rapture. While I think the situation is incredibly unfortunate, the optimist in me says enjoy the commercial-free music for however long it has left, and maybe get a little enjoyment from hearing them prep new equipment, before we're all being told why we're going to hell and how we need to "save America" in the next election.

I agree that the audio quality on the phone was excellent.
Are people listening tuned in online or on FM? Because its entirely possible in a situation like this the streaming continued for WJBR from their studio..... the stream wasnt fed by an over the air radio and VCY isnt going to use the same automation/.studio

Though it sounds as if form what Lance said, they havent taken over yet at all

Id be willing to bet almost every one here is listening over the air waves. The stream isnt going to end.

And end of the road was the last song. It flipped.

The FM station's Wikipedia page has been partially updated. It begins as follows:

"WVCW (99.5 MHz) is a commercial radio station licensed to Wilmington, Deleware. Owned by VCY America[...]."

WVCW won't be commercial, but like I said, the page is only partially updated.

Whoever did the update added the below, which isn't actually true, is it? After Delilah, didn't the automated format we're hearing today kick right in?

On that night at midnight, following the end of their broadcast of syndicated show Delilah and after a half-hour of departure-themed songs (ending with "Closing Time" by Semisonic), the station went silent ahead of VCY's takeover, and the WJBR format moved to an online-exclusive jockless webstream
