Newsbreak / Local News

Is the bay area has the longest local news time period in the country? Excluding Spectrum 1 news / News 12 or other regional cable news channel, and news repeats. I can watch Bay area local news (combination of KTVU, KRON, KPIX, KGO, and KNTV) form 4am-1pm and follow by 2pm-1135pm. I know Los Angeles their news goes from 4a-2pm, 3pm-730pm, and 8pm-11:35pm with breaks between 2-3pm and 7:30-8pm.

Gotta consider another one the CBS O&O's have their 24 hour news feeds are on the CBS News and Paramount+ apps. ABC has been promoting the ABC News Live Network and local ABC O&O's feed on Hulu too. NBC O&O's on the Peacock app and Fox O&O's on the Fox Local app. This is about the Local TV stations adapting to current TV's via apps. Also we had a similar statement about syndicated shows going to certain TV apps as a specific feed like going to TUbi, Pluto and freevee.

  • CBS News Bay Area (KPIX/KPYX)
  • ABC 7 Bay Area 24/7 (KGO)
  • NBC SF Bay Area News (KNTV)

You forgot a big one, "KTVU Plus", aka KICU/36.

And when you add that to the mix, your list fills in that 1-2 pm hour and expands another hour at the back end.

KICU runs instant repeats of the "Mornings on 2" 9-10 am hour from 10-11 am, their "Noon News" (12N-1 pm) at 1-2 pm, and the "Ten O'Clock News" 10-11 pm news hour from 11:30 pm-12:30 am. So between all seven of the OTA stations, there's news available continuously from 4:00 am through 12:30 am without a break, assuming the occasional rerun is acceptable.
