Beasley rolls out NuTune Country on HD2s includinh WKLB

Beasley Media is launching HD2s of NuTune country on several of its stations including WKLB 102.5 here in Boston, WXTU 92.5 in Philly etc
--new music discovery

By the way the HDRadio dot com site now links to a company called Xperi who I guess took over the technology etc--but the HD site (find a station, where to get a radio, etc.) is mostly gone other than maybe THIS link:

For those who wish to listen online before it's widely available,
WKML HD2 95.7 Lumberton NC (Fayetteville NC area) is streaming the NUTUNE COUNTRY format.

Listen Live player link: WKML HD2

Via the WKML.com web site - click on the drop-down arrow on the "Listen Live" link, then select "95.7 HD2":

Direct streaming URLs to copy/paste in to media players:

112 kbps 44.1 kHz AAC: >http://playerservices.streamtheworld.com/api/livestream-redirect/WKMLHD2AAC.aac<

96 kbps 44.1 kHz MP3: >http://playerservices.streamtheworld.com/api/livestream-redirect/WKMLHD2.mp3<

Just tried hdradio.com again and it looks like they do redirect it easily to HD Radio site, not the main Xperi page.
Also on this board's HD radio board I
found this--with more up to date listings

The Boston page for example lists things like WKVB 107.3 HD2--Air1.

The HD radio site on neocities (link above) seems recent and accurate. Note it only lists FMs (and AM--650!) that have HD, even
if it's only on the main signal. WBUR 90.9 (only has the HD1) gets listed. WUMB 91.9 does not.
Looking at the Pittsburgh one I noticed things like Audacy having BetQL on the HD3 of their country on 107.9...and one channel (on 96.9 HD4, I think) is "Stay Tuned"--all TV theme songs.

WUMB has not run HD in quite some time.

I was wondering, because their signal is weak here in Somerville, I used to occasionally be able to pull it into locking in HD, but haven't for at least a few years. Was wondering if they shut it off, or if it was my reception.

This is an incredibly stupid use of resources on Beasley's part unless some external entity is bankrolling this NuTune Country effort.

The personnel the company employs should be focused on programming content mass audiences will actually consume, not some HD2 gimmick that is akin to a tree falling in a forest.

HD Radio in Boston has taken a major hit. Stations on 93.7; 105.7 and 106.7 have eliminated their HD2 & HD3 stations due to cost cutting measures. A Technology that had a major future has taken a giant step backwards at least in Boston. I'm sure this is occurring in other cities. For HD radio to survive, stations need to find the funds to utilize it.

"The stations between the stations"
"AM sounds like FM. FM sounds like a CD"
Some things like Black Info Network. gay-lesbian, etc but often the HDs are relaying
AM stations (680, 1030, 1200); Bet QL is on some HDs elsewhere; WKVB 107.3 has Air1 on HD2 and K Love 00s on HD3--Audacy still runs the "WAAF" on 104.1 HD2 but took it off 93.7 HD2.

There's competition from streaming and satellite radio.
Public radio--no HD subchannel for WBUR. WGBH-FM has WCRB and Cape-Islands NPR. WCRB has no subchannels.

Sorry, for those of you who tuned to
WMJX HD2 to hear Sleigh Ride in July.
