Bye Bye Bally Sports Arizona

So who picks up the 'Yotes? Gray (KTVK/3 and KPHO/CBS 5) has enough on its plate with the Suns and Mercury, and the D'backs are up in the air after this season, unless they continue to let MLB produce their games. It comes down to Fox (KSAZ/Fox 10 and KUTP/45) or Scripps (KNXV/ABC 15 and KASW/61; they also operate KPPX/51). No way does Tegna (KPNX/NBC 12) get involved, being committed to NBC, and with no second station. The NHL season starts next week.

And the winner is ...KNXV 15.2 Antenna TV (whose programming will be pre-empted for the live games)

It’s strange Scripps didn’t put the Coyotes games on ABC15’s sister station, KASW (CW61) so (at least) satellite subs could see them

This was explained in a thread on the Phoenix TV board. The CW affiliation agreement doesn't allow that many preemptions.

Also, I wouldn't be surprised if they put it on 15.2 so they can charge a higher fee to Pay TV companies not already carrying the channel if they want to carry it because of the Coyotes games.

Second one we can hope

There's nothing for them to carry from BS West, at least in most of Arizona. To give you an idea, the highlight of the broadcast week was a live CIF Southern Section high school football game. For some reason, Cox is still carrying this "zombie channel", probably to play out the string on a carriage agreement.

they still have nascar and the other non-professional stuff

That doesn't justify paying a carriage fee, and it doesn't justify the fee they'd been getting with pro teams.

Remember: Bally is in a process of identifying assets that it can live without, especially loss-making ones like its Arizona operation. The hope is that it can lighten its load and become a profitable business in the Chapter 11 process.

To be clear, Bally Sports has NASCAR re-runs from last season. Estimated value: $0.00
