KPPV Prescott Valley is now 106.9 FM

Radio station KPPV is currently making announcements that 106.7 will be 106.9 on Friday, 10/27/2023.
I talked to the station and the lady said that they are now broadcasting on both frequencies.
On Friday it sounds like 106.7 will drop its signal.
The announcement mentions that KPPV has been 106.7 for 26+ years and now they are moving. Please change your radio's push-buttons to 106.9 FM.
No mention on air, as why this is being done. IIRC, there was a $$$ settlement being sought from Entravision?
Something must have taken place.
With a broadcast tower above 7,100 feet and 4,000 watt signal, The MIX KPPV 106 FM will still cover AZ very well.

I'm not sure its legal to broadcast on both your licensed and CP frequency at the same time.. and especially if done from the same tower site, as this is, you'd create one mess on the radio dial, interfereing with yourself

No huge signal but any means, but pretty decent nonetheless. "cover AZ very well" is kind of mis leading

Facebook posts from WEdnesday say theyve already moved to 106.9

I imagine you can simulcast on a CP for a limited time if you’re testing it….

Laughable on so many levels. I talked to Sanford Cohen years ago about a
billboard which stated, "Listen all the way to Phoenix." He said that referred to
his A.M. station, which by the way, did not reach anywhere near Phoenix at the
time. The "mix 106.7" as it was called, had difficulty reaching I-17 to the East, Black
Canyon City to the South and Williams to the North. It did cover areas to the West
where no one or next to no one lives.........

You should have told Sanford

KDVA Buckeye is still operating on 106.9 for now. Technically, KPPV cannot be operating on 106.9 until KDVA moves to 106.7.

Theyve alfready made posts indicating they have in fact mvoed.

Perhaps I could have said, covers the Prescott quad-city well. The Flagstaff translator helps KPPV cover the other local population spot at 100.7.

K264BD-FM 100.7 MHz - Flagstaff, AZ

It's just that I was caught off guard by hearing them announce the frequency change this morning; after hearing about its possibility many months ago.

So Adult Contemporary KPPV 106.7 Prescott Valley will move to 106.9.

At the same time, Latin AC KDVA 106.9 Buckeye-Phoenix will move to 106.7.

But we're not sure why the two stations, about 85 miles apart, are doing this.

KVVA 107.1 is moving to South Mountain as a Class C2. KDVA couldn't stay on 106.9 since they will be 35 miles apart.

KDVA's still operating on 106.9 at this moment, but they fired up RDS saying "La Suavecita 106.7 and 107.1 FM."
