WTOG 44 St Petersburg, FL, Dr Paul Bearer Show

Ah,the good old days, when WTOG Channel 44, had a strong local presence including a 10PM locally produced newscast. They were owned by Hubbard Broadcasting at the time, which also owned WGTO - 540- Cypress Gardens at the time.

Enjoyed watching WTOG 44 in the 80s and 90s from Mount Dora when it would skip enough to make it up there, along with V-32 WTMV and the QZoo tube on WBHS 50. Those were some of the good ol days indeed.

Surprised they could get away with "Paul Bearer," as WWE always trademarked the names of its wrestlers and managers, unless they were using their actual names or they had trademarked their professional names before signing a WWE contract. Although it may be that WTOG's Bearer may have been using the name while the wrestling Bearer was still calling himself Percival Pringle.

Most definitely using it before Vince McMahon. Bill Moody debuted the name, and character adjustment, upon his WWF debut in 1990. Moody stated in an interview that Road Warrior Hawk had suggested the name to McMahon and him.
