97.1 FM country legends

97.1 PI code is now for KLVH. Still no song info in the RDS

Give it a few days. They have to set up equipment. Some stations take longer than others.
Correct. As I also mentioned earlier in this thread or in one about 105.3 Beaumont, EMF apparently was not able to apply in Texas to install their dishes at the tower site until they closed on the purchase. They also have a new transmitter on order and other equipment coming.

Is that a new transmitter and equipment for KLVH or KLTW? (Or maybe both)

meanwhile in Beaumont there’s a lot of complaining on social media on the loss of Country Legends and its replacement. If I repeated some of the comments here I would get scolded.

Before the great translator invasion, Legends 97.1 would pull a 2 share in Lake Charles. It was a mid high 4 share in Beaumont in the late 2000s.

Lots of complaining up here in Conroe, too. Legends was extremely popular around here, and was the most popular "default" station for background music in many businesses. KVST is doing a fairly decent job at filling that gap in Montgomery and Walker counties.

So much for serving the public interest, convenience and necessity. Hopefully these listeners are making their comments known. Does EMF have a complaint line, or just a fundraising line?

What are those listeners going to do? The station was sold, and the new owner went in a new direction. The FCC doesn’t get involved in format decisions. This sort of story has happened countless times.

93.3 would be a good place for a revived Country Legends, but you’d have to pry it away from Univision, which appears content with ratings at the bottom of the zeroes. The frequency does have history in the Country format, but that was over 30 years ago.

Evidently no one cared enough to file a petition to deny in order to prevent or delay the transfer from occuring. But that train has left the station.

That's probably not going to happen, either. For whatever reason, Univision seems unwilling to devest of that asset. If someone offered the right price, I suppose it would be available. After all, they shed KLAT 1010, but LMAed it back from the new owner. So stranger things have happened.

I see the future of 93.3 as Houston't Tajano Party Station, rather than Country Legends.

That term has been about the most terribly defined quality on the planet for 90 years... the life of the FCC. I personally think that relaxing music that relieves stress and provides "company" is a real community service, just as much as a talk show about the city council's agenda is. What is your definition of "service?" Of course, public affairs and educational shows that nobody listens to ever are not a "service" or in the "public interest" in any form.

EMF has 24/7 live native English speaking staff you can talk to. They will discuss the station, identify a song, pray with you, help you find a help or prayer group (they have their own in many markets) and whatever else you want to chat with them about.

I think their fundraising is mostly done online or by mail, not on the phone.

You can donate over the phone as well
And online as well, I suppose. But the original question had to do with calling EMF with complaints. What would EMF call takers/counselors/whatever say to callers upset that they're hearing music they don't care for on a station that used to play the old country tunes they love, and that now there's no place on the local radio dial to hear them?
