4500 watts day, 5 towers, 5000 watts night into 6 towers.

Theres some value in the signal, if its current programming makes money.. It'll probably come back with much lower power non directional.

There are directional arrays all over chicago, which wouldnt be as expensive to diplex on as buying or leasing land but still probably prohibitively expensive.

Land is in an industrial park. Might be valuable.

The FM translator is probably worth something, if they can get it up and running.

The AM coverage isn't great, but definitely worthwhile in the south suburbs.

Does anyone know what the story was with this one? Did Polnet own the land, and sell the property? That’s what they did with a station they formerly owned in suburban NYC a couple of years ago. They ended up donating the station to a religious broadcaster for a tax break at an absurdly high valuation. I guess checking on such things isn’t within the purview of the FCC, but could instead be subject to a possible IRS review.
Anyway, just wondering if ”the land was sold and now we have to look for a new site” could be a new business plan for the company.
Time will tell.

Don't know about this particular situation, but I suspect we will see a good number of financially challenged AM's that have valuable tower land go down this route.

It's already been happening elsewhere, this is nothing new.

This has been going on for well over a decade, with some (but fewer) going back even further. Just look at KHJ and KABC in LA, 1560 in New York, and many others.,

Or Albuquerque, where there are four stations on one tower (KRZY).

Or Honolulu where 3 and 4 per tower began in the 1950's under Roycroft. Heck, I had a diplexed pair in Ecuador in 1966 to save on land costs.
