Rob, Arnie, & Dawn are awfully quiet these days

The other day I thought I'd check out what they're doing on 104.7 since the format change. Mainly because I was curious to see if they've managed to get any advertisers. Surprise!! Dead air! Checked 890 AM - same thing. Dead carrier. Checked again this morning, same thing. Huh???

890/104.7 doesn't launch until Monday.

Not technically dead air. About every 5 minutes a brief spiel in Spanish roughly translates to:

La Ranchera Superstation thanks you for listening. We will continue to broadcast at 105.5 and 92.1 FM.

Same VO as the liners for Ranchera Superstation. No TOH ID when I sat there listening to 104.7 in the car

RAD Radio on 104.7 was up and running as of 4am or so. Commercials and all. Playing a best-of regarding Thanksgiving when I tuned in.

So, is 104.7 a 24/7 outlet for the Rob, Anybody and Don show? I'm kind of new to Sacramento, so I'm not really familiar with them. Are they such a big deal in this market? Where were they before, and why are they here? The 104.7 signal seems to serve only the City of Sacramento, more or less. Heading west on I-80, the signal faded in Dixon, where KHTN Merced's signal took over. I listened for about 30 minutes, from about :50 - :20, and did not hear a legal ID. I guess that might've mattered at some point but, since the FCC doesn't seem to care anymore, neither does the station.

They were previously on KRXQ 98.5 for 20+ years. Started on KDOT Reno (owned by Lotus) which also owns the local 104.7 translator. RAD recently worked out a full time lease of the 104.7/890 combo with Lotus to run their show 24/7.

I wouldn’t call them a “big deal”…folks either love em or hate em. I’ve tuned in occasionally since their return to the market and it’s…meh. Lately sounds more like a infomercial for their turkey brine and cookbooks. 🥱

According to the FCC database, AM 890 is still KVMX, not KSAC. I'm visiting the Sacramento Area right now and they are IDing, AM 890 as KSAC Olivehurst/Sacramento. Could it be that they're a little hasty in doing this? The call letter change does not appear to be filed. Technically, 105.5 would have to change to KSAC-FM or something else too.

I'm seeing more and more odd actions by stations outside of FCC parameters. (IE, a station still using their old site for weeks after they received a license to cover for their new site as an another example).

I've had to make repeated attempts to get PDs IDing stations correctly.
They go on their merry way producing imaging with little thought to the Legal.
Probably the same here.
Or, nobody told the FCC lawyers they wanted the call letters changed.
