101.5 Hank FM in Dayton

With Classic Country WNKN long gone from the 105.9 signal, one would think 101.5 Hank FM would've seen a decent ratings boost.

Instead, 101.5 is in the toilet with a 0.9 share.

What is the justification for this station's existence? It doesn't seem complementary to the other stations in the cluster, and I doubt anyone is busting down the door begging to advertise on this station.

Click apparently was a flop, and I guess they figured they could nip a point from K99.1 with classic country. Any attempt to harm k99.1 seems destined to fail.

Gives Alpha a country station in the Dayton area to hopefully shave a little share off K99.1 I am guessing they are selling it in a combo with Jack FM 92.9 ad wise. Being able to go to a advertiser and be like "I can place your ad on 3 different stations with 3 different audiences" is one of the ways radio sells these days.

I have wondered the same thing since the ratings have always been to low. I mean they are behind New Country 103.9 and that signal has only been country for about 2 years. Like xmusicmatt said I think they can sell ads as a combo. I also think it's just cheap to run just like running Jack FM on 92.9 is. I have wondered why they just don't put 1410 ESPN Radio on 101.5 but again it would probably cost them money to do that. I still wonder why Alpha holds on to 1410.

My guess is they hold onto 1410 because no one will buy it. I tried listening to Reds games on WING after I moved from Cincinnati to Centerville but it sounded so bad I went back to 700WLW.

Dayton stations are worthless. Consider how long 94.5 and 106.5 were in the Aloha Trust before they were finally given away.

Wasn't 106.5 iHeart?
Both were until they went into the trust. 106.5 still used iHeart’s programming though.

It’s a shame they changed formats. Sure, it was corporate, but they didn’t do a bad job with the programming. That is until it drifted more towards oldies. Then, I stopped listening. A lot of people esp in the rural areas between Dayton and Fort Wayne listened to Big 106.5. For what was technically a rimshot, their numbers weren’t bad in Dayton.
