Upper left hand corner USA

I knew at age 5 my future was in radio.

My father owned an auto dealership in Seattle and would voice his commercials every Saturday on KVI-AM 570( a Gene Autry station). I thought it was the coolest thing to watch him do a live read and then listen to playback during the work week. To a young child, radio was magic.

After graduating from college I bounced around multiple minor market stations in News, Sports, Sales. That’s when I had the Ah-Ha realization that working in radio was a vow of poverty. So I switched to a new, unknown startup in the technology field. Their name was Microsoft. The pay was slightly better and they looked more stable than radio.

Fast forward 40 years. Retirement happens.

I had the good fortune of being hired as a Board Op for KAPS/KBRC in the Upper Left Hand Corner of the USA. They are part of the Seattle Seahawks, Mariners and Kraken Radio network.

I am blessed to work for the best ownership and management that I have ever known. They reminded me that radio continues to be truly magic.

Welcome! I never thought I would encounter someone else who started in radio and then ended up in tech. My epiphany was almost 38 years ago when I was fired one time too many by someone who was an utter bozo. So I went back to graduate school, got a computer science degree, and ended up with a pretty good 33-year career, much of it in cybersecurity. I'm retired now, too, and recently relocated to Colorado.

Glad to hear that you have decent folks to work with. I worked with some good people but also some really awful ones.
