From RadioInsight:
Cox Media Group takes the top four spots with Classic Hits 101.1 KONO-FM retaining its top spot holding at an 8.2 share and its stream adding an additional 0.9. iHeartMedia Country “KJ 97” rebounds 4.6 to 5.1. iHeart News/Talk 1200 WOAI rises 2.6 – 2.8 – 3.1. Public News/Talk 89.1 KSTX rises 1.7 to 2.4.

Educational Media Foundation Christian AC “K-Love” 91.3 KZLV drops 4.3 to 3.2, while “Air 1” 106.3 KZAR is up 2.3 to 3.1.

8.2 KONO 101-1
7.1 Y100
5.9 99-5 KISS
5.7 The Eagle
5.2 Q101.9
5.1 KJ 97
4.8 Magic 105.3
4.7 Vibe 107.5
3.8 Jack FM
3.5 Latino Hits

96.1 Now is competing with the likes of 104.1, 105.7(LP) & KTSA @ 2.2. The Top 40 format will make a comeback. In the meantime, Iheart should consider tweaking the format to Hits & Throwbacks.

961 Now lost a lot of heart with the passing of Russell Rush, something they have not recaptured. I agree: They are a good city-grade signal with a well-oiled format who should consider shuffling up the library a little bit to 2000-2010 club favorites. Do they have any local voices or are they all tracked??

Wouldn’t Air1 listeners in SA be tuned to KZAI 103.7? Yet I don’t see KZAI on the ratings list. Encoding issue?

Is 97.7 still IDing as KZAR? Yes, I am aware of the impending license swap with KMLR 106.3.

I don't believe they have local air talent.

Side note, Magic 105.3 has flipped to all Christmas music. They used to do this years ago and it wasn't successful. Why the change since it didn't work in the past. Perhaps more ad dollars? I could be mistaken but no other Hot AC station in the Cox Media Group has flipped to all Christmas music.

They may be the right opportunity for 96.1 to tweak the format and take advantage of Magic's Christmas move.

I mean 961 Now talent "sounds" local and they make local references but not enough to dent PPM listening habits (cume v TSL) and inspire a local following like RR...

Honestly, I dont think 961 NOW is thinking local strategically. As a grid station, it has all the right ingredients for a Top 10 but heck even Jack has a "personality". Somebody has yet to capitalize on the unique San Antonio Hispanic Mass Appeal format: leaning English primary with a Hurban appeal. VIBE, previous Beat and Latino Hits have dabbled in it..

As usual, I have to complain about Cox's complete lack of attention to their AM station's audio quality. Both KONO860 and KKYX680 sound like pure crap most of the time. Strange, but sometimes they sound OK.
