New Orleans Predictions for 103.7 NoLa and 104.1 BR

It kind of seems like they want to try to get listeners from 103.7

Low audio quality?? Tom, my former assistant and the current chief operator of iHeart Nola, is quite picky about audio...before I left he opened up the audio by getting the STL set to no compression, and changed the Exciter out to a new Gates Fax which sounded awesome especially in the bass.. I haven't talked with him in a few weeks...may need to see if there is a technical issue
Hey I am just hearing what comes out of my car radio. It sounds much different from the other iHeart stations that have an HD feed.

With 104.1, logical could be WJBO FM, but research tells me it's been less than 5 years 98.7 has been translating, so the translator would be stuck playing jbo with 104.1? Nah... plus saw jbo got a good coverage on 98.7.

Logical would be Alt rock or Classic country. Two formats aimed at the more Caucasian demo in the southern BR area where the signal is the best.

But money also could be as someone said, a urban to take on 94.1 and 106.5 as they have no real competition. And bring say a Q93 style format from New Orleans as it used to show up years ago in ratings almost pulling a 1.0 for a rimshot.

Dark horse would be sports as 104.5/104.9 are rimshots and being something that could penatrate buildings would be an obvious.

103.7 would loose the rock format and probably take over the spots Playlist as it surprises me how well it does..

I haven't looked at ratings, but anyone know how "downtown 97.7" is doing? As it was oldies, went jbo, then went back to oldies.. but figuring with aging out demo, it wouldn't be hard for I heart to have flipped that to say Alt 97.7 running off a computer in the closet ? With good enough signal to get listeners at LSU and those who don't want to wait thru the eclectic or want more mainstream "alternative/modern rock"

In B.R. I think that they will put WJBO on 104.1, leaving the translator the wild card. Not sure what they'd try on a small signal. Maybe a alternative format since 92.3 won't serve BR any longer?

In NoLa I'm guessing 104.1s format will make the move to 103.7, but anything is possible.

What are y'all's guesses.....
92.3 does reach BR now. South of the city it booms in.

WJBO AM and new FM will simulcast for a short while to get listeners moved over to 104.1, then the AM and associated translator will become something else. This is coming from a 'fairly' reliable source.

I wonder if Christmas music will be on KVDU on either 104.1 or 103.7 due to the swap of frequencies.
Well, the station's have not moved yet, so it would be 104.1 if iHeart decides to go that route once again.

Could you say how your source knows this?

I dont see it happening for new year on move , but I would suspect 104.1 going Christmas after Thanksgiving again. But would be ripe to do a flip after new year.. bug change coming promos and stuff ..

Not always.. Spot has been flipping every year as its I heart's flip into the format every year, but it would be a good way to segue people over

In my opinion If they put WJBO on 104.1, they should just turn off the translator so i can listen to Kiss 98.7.
It’ll be interesting to see what they do with the translator if that happens. Will they put something new on 102.5 HD2? Would they even bother making 104.1 HD again?

Usually owners don't put talk radio formats on FM since they skew old. But in nearby New Orleans, iHeart has talk on 99.5 WRNO. So maybe it will flip 104.1 to WJBO's talk format for Baton Rouge. Actually there's a small FM talk station in the market already, 107.3 WBRP.

Then the company can use 1150 and its 98.7 translator for maybe an Urban or Urban AC format. Two Cumulus stations, Urban AC KQXL and Urban WEMX, are #1 and #2 in the Baton Rouge ratings.

It would be nice if they put an Urban format on there similar to WQUE. I definitely think there should be another option for Hip Hop in Baton Rouge. Or just shut it off completely because KKST (Kiss 98.7) in Alexandria can be heard in Zachary/St. Francisville/Jackson/etc. Too much interference with WJBO’s translator most of the time.

I’m sure tropos would bring it in strong to BR most nights if the translator was off.

Doesn’t max 94.1 do extremely well in BR?
