New Orleans Predictions for 103.7 NoLa and 104.1 BR

In B.R. I think that they will put WJBO on 104.1, leaving the translator the wild card. Not sure what they'd try on a small signal. Maybe a alternative format since 92.3 won't serve BR any longer?

In NoLa I'm guessing 104.1s format will make the move to 103.7, but anything is possible.

What are y'all's guesses.....

Urban in BR. Cumulus controls 25% of the 12+ with just 2 stations. The 104.1 signal perfectly covers the market without infringing on their gold mine 1-2 punch combo in New Orleans.

For New Orleans, anyone's guess, but there's room for a peppier AC station than the sleepy Magic, and perhaps with now having a good signal throughout the heart of the metro, Voodoo may finally have a fighting chance at success, although it seems that legacy brands in New Orleans don't die easy. I agree with you that Voodo stays in NOLA.

I think maybe urban on a translator. They have been telling some advertising clients of WJBO that a better FM signal is coming soon, so i'm still betting on 104.1 becoming the new home of WJBO.

Ok so I am trying to wrap my head around this. 104.1 will go to BR and 103.7 will go in N.O.? If this is the case, I say AC for 103.7 to directly compete with Magic. Can’t say what will go on 104.1 in BR. And when y’all say Voodoo you mean, “The Spot” right?!

Yeah. Same format, different name. Sorry for the confusion. Old habit as the calls are still associated with Voodoo.

I Think that we are forgetting something. If or when 103.7 moves to NOLA where will WGON Slidell, KTIB Thibodaux, and WFPR Hammond, have to move to.

KTIB's Translator is still there. Damaged; yes, but the money from the LMA with La Calle 97.9 is suppose to help fix it.
Well, if George decides to put it back on the air, it'll end up having to move if 103.7 moves into New Orleans from Hattiesburg.. considering though that it's been several years, I'm surprised the license is still active.. the STL gear was damaged and tower rent was several months behind... I proposed to George to move it to another site which had better access but it never happened

The perfect place would have been on the origional KHOM tower in Gray, La. But that is now a forgone conclusion. The only place would be that is close to the present tower is on the one thet holds KTLN (The old KXOR tower)

Does anyone know when all of the frequencies change in the Baton Rouge, New Orleans, and Hattiesburg area? Since 104.1 is moving to Baton Rouge and 103.7 is going to New Orleans.

What kind of signal will the new 103.7 NOLA use? Compared to KDVU currently has now
I assume KVDU is still operating from its licensed auxiliary site in NOLA. The predicted coverage for WFFX will be roughly twice the area of the KVDU auxiliary site.

Old 104.1 Signal used to covered Baton Rouge and New Orleans area on 2000 foot tower at 100kw. But now the new 104.1 signal will only cover Baton Rouge metro area with 335 foot tower at 18kw. Here is the link. KVDU-FM Radio Station Coverage Map.
The new 103.7 Signal will broadcast from one of the Chalmette towers at 1004 foot tower at 12kw which where WRNO and WWL-FM is broadcasting from. Here is the link. WFFX-FM Radio Station Coverage Map

What happens to 103.7 in Hattiesburg then?

Does that explain KDVU’s low audio quality then?

Low audio quality?? Tom, my former assistant and the current chief operator of iHeart Nola, is quite picky about audio...before I left he opened up the audio by getting the STL set to no compression, and changed the Exciter out to a new Gates Fax which sounded awesome especially in the bass.. I haven't talked with him in a few weeks...may need to see if there is a technical issue

Well I see that WLVZ 107.1 in Hattiesburg is moving to 103.7 but whole lot smaller signal than the original WFFX signal. WLVZ-FM Radio Station Coverage Map
Well of course...103.7 New Orleans will be the limiting factor...all LVZ is getting is a 3db increase in power....not worth it in my book ...AND I don't know whether 107.1 has co-channel but on 103.7 they sure will....tropo will beat it to death.... Dumb move by EMF
